“Clean and Simple”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2008

The Village Inn - located on the far west end of Destin is a great bargin for a very basic motel. The room was clean, bedding was good, the bathroom was clean and there were no odors. It appeared the rooms had been painted in the past year. The bed was good and firm without the typical "bowl" feeling of lower priced motels.
There is a Dive Shop nearby, so this is a great location for divers with the boats only 2 blocks away. Eating - McGuires Irish Pub, great as always, is 3 blocks west, for an excellent breakfast/brunch -Another Broken Egg is 2 blocks west, AJ's Party Club is 1 block west, Waffle House is next door - its OK but it is only a Waffle House.
There is no beach nearby, but the Marina/Harbour is across the street for Deep Sea fishing and Tourist Excursions. The beaches are either across the bridge to the west 4-5 miles or to the east 2 -3 miles. This motel is not located in Sand Destin which people get confused. Thats 10 miles to the east.
The staff is friendly, but can be a little testy at times. There is one ice machine that is in the lobby and refilling any size ice chest is frowned upon and may receive a scolding, signage included.
I am planning to stay here again whenever I return to Destin in the near future.

  • Liked — Very basic - not paying for a bunch of frillls

The only good thing about this hotel was the people at the front desk were exceptionally nice. Besides that, it was disguisting! When we first got there, the room they gave us was not cleaned. Then they moved us to another room which was clean but non-smoking and i had reserved a smoking room. So I had to go back to the office and they changed my room back to the first room they gave us and I had to wait for it to be cleaned. Once we got into the room it still had a musty smell and the floors felt wet the entire time. We did not go without shoes while we were in the room or while we showered. Then while we were packing up to leave, there was a huge cockroach crawling up the wall. I have stayed in many hotels, but this is by far the dirtiest hotel. But like I said the people that work at this particular hotel were very nice, but all they said were sorry.

Property is directly across from the marina and was very convienent for our deep sea fishing trip. The front desk was polite and courteous upon check in. This is a motel- outside entrance, does have card key security. Bathrooms were pretty clean- some mold on the shower curtain but shower was clean and also the facilities. Mattress was in good condition and AC blew cold all night and never froze up. Call the front desk around 10:30pm and no-one picked up. Called again and asked for a wakeup call. Person was polite and scheduled the wake up call. However- never got the wakeup call??
One ice cooler in the lobby and was asked to not fill up our cooler. In liue of the ice machine- each room has a microwave and refrige.
overall- Great motel value.

When my husband and me went by boat (last year) thats exactly where he thought we was gonna sleep, in the boat : ) But of course i like T.V. and airconditoner. Tammy and Ronnie made our stay at the Village Inn very enjoyable. They are great down to earth people. The Hotel and the swimming pool was nice and clean. It's not often we find a place with both qualities, so for our anniversary in 2006 that is where we will be again. Across the street is AJ's were you can dance, eat and look at the boats on the water. There is also a cute little restaurant across the street called Another Broken Egg. The wait can be long but it is well worth it. We are looking forward to many more memories staying at the Village Inn and seeing Tammy and Ronnie again. :):):)

Over the years I have stayed many times and always have been pleased at the value and helpfull staff. Tammy and her staff always are cheerful and wanting to please the customers. It is rare in todays world to find such a charming group of caring people. Keep up the great work !

Nice location near bridge and fishing boats. Not on the beach, but pretty near. There is a Waffle House next door and other places to eat you can walk to like AJs and McGuires. The rooms were very large and quiet. Pool was good size too. Easy to miss driving by. Not fancy but clean.

To my "Friends" at The Village Inn, Destin:

I have stayed at the Village Inn, Destin for years now and have become friends of the manager, Ms Jayne and the staff! Great location and nice rooms.

The hotel offers moderately priced rooms for the area and has many amenities. Pool, morning coffee, convenient location(across st. from destin harbor) and a great staff! You can walk to the Destin bridge, harbor, McGuires Irish Pub, and hey, there is even a Waffle House next door to meet all of your budget meal needs!

Howdy Ms Jayne, keep up the good work!

love,

m & b : )
