Unfortunately my partner and I had unpleasant experience with the staff at the Green Owl. On a recommendation from a friend we went there for lunch and were totally surprised at the rudeness or for that matter the insensitivity of the staff to recognize some customers special needs.
When we entered we were directed to sit at a table down the side of main counter. My “bald is beautiful partner,” who has been under chemo and radiation therapy for CML and bladder cancer over the past 1½ years, stated that he would prefer to wait in order to get a sunny table in the front to keep warm (he was pointing to a table, in the sunshine, whose occupants were about ready to pay their check.) The waitress said nothing and continued on with her job. Not more than 3 minutes into our waiting we heard a waiter ask the waitress why we were standing there and she replied with “they did not want to sit in the back, it’s to dark.” The waiter then approached us, stated that we “were in the way,” and to “wait outside.” I said to the waiter that my partner was cold but the stare I was getting from the waiter was even colder. I indicated to my spouse that it was time to leave. We did walk out cool mid April day when the temperature was around 60° and winds were gusting at 10 to 25 mph.
There is a happy ending though. We had a great lunch at warm friendly bagel place across the street.
