“Small & Quiet Resort, Perfect Beach Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

Stayed at the Dover House for a week through an RCI trade late April 2014. Weather for Florida was stunning for 7 days straight. Dover House is right across from the beach and just off the main strip Atlantic Blvd. Unit was a small one bedroom, bath, with living room and small kitchen. Not your 4* hotel resort but a perfect place for a couple or couple with kids to enjoy the beach and everything south Florida has to offer.

Room Tip: We had a first floor unit in building 3, don't see how you can go wrong with any of the rooms.

My husband and I spent a week at The Dover House and it was perfect for us. We had an end unit on the upper floor so we had plenty of light due to extra windows. We actually had everything we needed. Check-in was easy and the property is well kept even if it isn't new. The couch was very comfortable (sometimes in condos the couch can look nice but not feel good) and we slept very well on the mattress. There was ample closet and drawer space. On top of all of that, the location is perfect, right across the street from a beautiful beach and walking distance from fantastic restaurants. We would love to return again.

Room Tip: The upper floor will offer a view of the ocean from the landing outside your unit where you can sit...

My sister and I booked two weeks in this hotel.. Although it was renovated yet I find it lacks a lot of standard hotel amenities ... The bedroom is extremely dark I could hardly find anything in my closet and it had no mirrors .. none ... the kitchen is OK although the cutlery were probably bought in the dollar store ... When we first checked in rather late ... I took a shower and went to bed and to my astonishment, the sheets were not cleaned... there was sand and coarse hair... my sister and I had to change them in order to sleep... Next day we went to the office and they were extremely shocked and apologetic and we got ourselves new clean fitting sheets... Another strange thing, building one is separated from the other two building by an active street where cars continuously circulate and use as U turns... That said, the hotel is average and OK for a short stay... The staff though is out of this world... friendly, courteous, charming, accommodating, helpful, smiling, efficient .. a true delight ... and the location is superb .. across the street is the beach and 10 minutes from the hotel East Atlantic where all the good hotels, boutiques and activities are ... next door three very good restaurants too...

Room Tip: All rooms can see parts of the ocean as all Delray Beach beaches are hidden by trees

My family and I stayed for a week. Very clean and nice. Access to beach was perfect and within walking distance to shopping and restraunts. Will definitely be coming back! The employees were very welcoming and helpful whenever we needed anything.

This is an older time share property, but adequately maintained. Had a one bedroom condo unit for four people, which was adequate. Beds were comfortable, kitchens were adequate, and location directly across from the beach was perfect. The only drawback is that the rooms are non-smoking and there were many smokers there when we were there. They sit on the front patio areas which are all connected, and the smoke drifts to all other units. This is nasty! They should book all smokers in the same building so they can smoke each other out!

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the building where the office is located, which is the southern set of building...

Perfect location! Clean and safe. Walking distance to beach, shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Pool area is private and clean. BBQ grills and picnic tables for staying in. Grocery stores are close by.

If you are looking for a beach condo in Delray Beach, consider the Dover House, located on Ocean Boulevard about three blocks south of Atlantic Avenue. It is a friendly, safe place with very friendly staff and other renters. As mentioned, located within easy walking distance of the Dover House is Atlantic Avenue with lots of restaurants, beach shops, and (of course) bars.

I live in Delray Beach and rented a condo at the Dover House for my parents (78 yrs old) and a second unit for my sister and niece in late April. It was perfect. Each place is cute and clean with a reasonable kitchen, sitting area, eating area, and a fantastic location on Ocean Boulevard. Both units were on the second floor (recommended) and each could see a view of the ocean from their window and a better view if they sat out in the lawn chairs provided on the porch in front of their room (each room--it is a large shared patio). The ocean is right there--10 steps across Ocean Boulevard. On the sand you can rent two comfortable lounge chairs and an umbrella for $10/hr or $40 per day (separate vendor, very nice guy).

The Dover House has a nice pool on the property--further down the property (not in view of the ocean). I swam in it and enjoyed the water as well as the friendly visitors from the Northeast, Canada, and the mid-West.

The Dover House has two sections. Ask for the "further South" Dover House so that your room looks out on the ocean and the Dover House fountain/courtyard instead of the units that look out on the ocean and the Dover House parking lot. Ask, too, for a unit facing South with the east view, closest to the ocean on the second floor. I can't remember the unit numbers, perhaps unit 218 (not sure that exists) or 216.

By the way, the staff were incredibly helpful and kind, especially Luke and Jessie.

I highly recommend this place (as long as you are not looking for a five star hotel with room service). We will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Select the furthest South Dover House (there are two). Ask for a room facing South (with the east v...
