“Great for weddings, vacations not so much”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013 via mobile

The rooms are unique, because they have a 1970s rustic decor. The rooms are a relative disappointment for the price. They remind me of when I stayed at the Holiday Inn in the 1980s. I did like the red recessed lighting in the corners of the ceiling. It reminded me of a photo development room, which was oddly comforting.

The staff was excellent. They had answers to all my questions such as where the convenience store was located, and they had an on-call shuttle to the beach. The restaurant staff was very friendly, and the service staff took the time to get to know me and to connect with the other guests as well. The best part of this niche hotel is the beautiful garden with a reverse osmosis, UV purified swimming pond, no chlorine so fish can live in it. It is an excellent destination for weddings and wedding receptions.

I would say that the best thing about this place is the service. The people that work at the Sundy House obviously love their jobs and their work. The one thing that they could improve most in my opinion is the room decorations.

The Garden of Eden is what springs to mind, you are surrounded by tropical plants & fruiting trees, which encourage you to relax immediately .The accommodation is individual, not your usual bland decor. The staff are so friendly & helpful. We eat in the resturant & the meal was inventive& delightful. Today Easter Sunday we ,along with our family had the famous Sunday Brunch,& it certainly lived up to its reputation. Fresh & varied the buffet was all you could desire, plus I had unlimited Champage,& I don,t mean Cava or sparkling white wine.
The Manager Bruce was attentive at all times ,we will Definately be returning.

We celebrated the convalidation of our daughter's wedding here with 7 in our group. We were seated outdoors in a large Gazebo which was beautiful. The service and food was excellent. The only complaint I had was that the foliage seemed tired and lacked care.

My wife and I have enjoyed the brunch at the Sundy House over the last twenty five years many times and we have stayed there on anniversaries and special occassions. It, and the Mai Kai are the two extraordinary delights I insist out of town guests enjoy. I must say that recently the Sundy has raised the bar yet again.

Under the stewardship of Bruce Siegel, the Sundy House is reaching new heights. The food, the atmosphere and the attentive service make for the most lovely experience. (Top Chef) Lindsay Autry ensured that all the food was beyond compare. Everything was fresh and prepared to perfection.

They've recently rearranged the Sunday at Sundy brunch by both adding more upscale foods and changing the logistics where foods are available in more of an island format. They now can be accessed by many more people all at the same time...hence no lines for the crab legs, salmon, delish desserts or anything else for that matter.

Nestled among spectacular tropical gardens are amazing rooms and cottages; we last stayed in one where the bed is suspended from the ceiling and does not touch the floor! Take and make a moment. Lose yourself on a stroll in the gardens then slip off your shoes in the upper pools and watch the cichlids nibble at your toes!

When it came to service, the staff was both friendly and attentive. Our glasses were never empty and our dishes disappeared everytime before we returned. While I may have mentioned service last, it really should have first. It was evident they work as a team covering each others tables and guests special needs.

I'd have to say we were not only fully satisfied, our high expectations were thoroughly exceeded.

Room Tip: All rooms have extraordinary features and there is a wide variety from which to choose.

My nephews wedding at the Sundy House was beautifully executed from the food to the communicaitons, to the accomodations. Many family members stayed at Sundy House as well.
The rooms were spacious and interesting, at times quirky. The grounds are gorgeous and tropical. really a fun venue for a small to mid size wedding.

Room Tip: If you are in a bridal party ask for a room with a full length mirror since many do not have them...

We just returned from our 6th stay at Sundy House and are already making plans for next winter. The magnificent tropical setting makes you feel like you are very far away; yet you are only a few blocks from the restaurants and shops on Atlantic Ave. Accommodations are very comfortable and the continental breakfast is delicious. Restaurant is excellent. All staff are friendly and helpful.

Stayed in Room 11, with blue & white gingham draped four poster bed and good-sized balcony overlooking swimming 'pond' in a tropical garden setting. Plenty of space in the room, even though there was a lot of dark wood furniture. We didn't think the staff were that friendly and they kept out of sight most of the time, except for the valet who was very helpful.
Breakfast was great and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the February warmth.
We didn't eat in the restaurant although it looked inviting as did the bar area. There are loads of restaurants in Delray so it seemed a shame not to go into town in the evening.
The Sundy House is about 20 minutes walk to the beach but lots to look at on the way and I think the hotel provide a shuttle service.
One negative point about Delray is that a very fast train line passes right through the centre of town - only one/two trains an hour but they can be about a mile long, accompanied by loud tooting of the horn as they go (day and night). They are not as frequent during the night. The hotel has aircon so not a problem if you have that switched on, of course!

Room Tip: Room 11 was on the first floor with a balcony which meant you had a super outlook onto the garden.
