The Blue Anchor was built as a pub in the City of London (that small original London of St. Paul's, Fleet Street, and Whitechapel). In the late 1800s it was reportedly frequented by a young reporter, Winston Churchill, and at least one of Jack the Ripper's victims. Several years ago It was purchased then taken apart, bit by bit, shipped to Delray Beach, and reassembled. Today it is an authentic British pub experience and well worth the visit. The wait staff is British and the ambiance is unique for South Florida. Here you can get beers and ales on tap normally only found in the UK, like Old Speckled Hen (named after the car used as a delivery vehicle at the MG factory, not after a chicken) and Boddington's ale. The fish and chips is as good as I have had in any pub in the UK. The menu is both traditional pub grub and modern and I have never had a bad meal here. Live music several nights a week, too. The Blue Anchor is a real find and a must see on any visit to Delray Beach.
