Finally went to their new location on East Atlantic. If you liked DIG's old location on West Atlantic/Military Trail, the new location will have you loving it!
The new bar area is much nicer and larger with cushy couch seating and cushy chairs with a LOT of space (probably double the size of the bar at the old location). The restaurant itself is HUGE, and there is nice outdoor seating in a courtyard area with a fountain and lots of greenery. This is SUCH a nice location!
As for the menu, it's pretty much the same as before, however they've gotten rid of the salad bar. For me, the salad bar was the primary draw and the main reason why I loved DIG before, and gave them 5 stars at the previous location. So, that is missed. Yes, they do have many salads on their menu, however, for me to be able to grab what I wanted, when I wanted...well, that was preferred.
Happy Hour at DIG is every day 4pm to 7pm. One thing to note is that not all drinks are on Happy Hour. We ordered from the Happy Hour menu, which contained only food items. When we ordered our drinks I asked the bartender if they had mojitos and he said yes. So, over the course of the 2.5 hours we were there, I ordered 3 mojitos thinking they were on Happy Hour (because everything else we ordered was), but when we got the bill we were charged $8 each, and were told they were not on Happy Hour special. This was a disappointment, as we should have been informed of this, and it should have been obvious we were into Happy Hour since the 4 menu items we ordered were all from the HH menu.
Regardless, shame on me for not specifically asking about the mojitos being on special. I thought I insinuated it when I asked if they were on the menu, but obviously was not specific that I was referring to the HH menu. Nevertheless, Kevin is a really good bartender who made the perfect mojitos, provided quick and friendly service, and chatted with us when he wasn't busy.
We'll be back, but I really do wish they'd install their salad bar again. For that reason, they've lost a star from me.
P.S. - I must highlight my favorites on the HH menu -- rollatinis, both of the flatbreads, and the hummus platter. Gotta love the black bean chipotle hummus!
