We always stay at the Colony Hotel on East Atlantic Avenue when we're in Delray. We've been visiting Delray Beach for years, and the storefronts change from time to time as new restaurants and stores move in and out. I noticed Scuola Vecchia had taken the place of another Italian restaurant that used to be in that location, but didn't get a chance to try it out until this year. It's a small place, but nicely decorated and modern (blue and white theme). The staff is very friendly & attentive. The pizzas are fantastic. There were 4 of us and we ordered 3 pizzas. (They're on the small side, btw, slightly larger than "personal pizza" size, in case you're thinking we're all football linebackers). We had a vegetable pizza, one with Parma ham, a basic tomato-cheese pie, and one other (can't remember what was on it, but it doesn't matter--they're all great). It's not cheap "by the slice" pizza, but it's well worth it. This is my favorite style of pizza--thin crust, not too much sauce, legit cheese, not that gloopy vomity-looking stuff tons of NYC places slosh all over their pies like they're doing you a favor. We plan to return the next time we're in Delray Beach.
