4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Food was very good we had a great time
we brought our own wine because the wine list is not good.
corkage $20 which was fine with us
they need to have better wine options by the glass in case you dont want to bring your own wine or if you only want to have a glass

“A Taste of Italy in Delray”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

My husband and I travelled to Naples and has pizza where it all began, Pizzeria Brandi in Naples. Since then whenever we trave, we look to eat Neopalitan style pizza. Scuola Vecchia serves pizza in the true Naples tradition and it is outstanding--comparable to Keste and Motorino in NYC. The crust is perfectly charred and the sauce has the right balance of sweetness and tartness. They even make there own mozzarella.

However, this is not Papa John's or typical US pizzeria pizza. This is more like fine dining vs fast food. This is the way pizza is meant to be eaten, not the overly sauced, oily version that most places serve.

Highly recommended. Will definitely go back when I return to Florida.

“Sorry, but it really is average.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

I have eaten is this restaurant only the once. My impression is that the food is very average, it is simply NOT just like you get in Italy and equally it is NOT of a poor standard. I have sat many nights and have viewed this place since it first opened, we stay in the hotel opposite. It has never been full to capacity and is probably a place that you visit once to see what it is like and if you really really liked something you ate, may try again.

“Their pizza is the real thing ....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

While visiting Delray friends suggested we have lunch at Scuola Vecchia because they know my husband is a pizza connoisseur. We were not disappointed. Their slogan "Best Pizza under the Sun" is not an exaggeration! Pizza is made using the traditions from Napoli. We ordered the Regina Margherita because we really wanted to taste the flavors of the crust and sauce which are amazing. We did not try the pastas, but they looked good and portions were large.

If you can't make it to Italy, this is the next best thing!

“Second time around....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013 via mobile

Yum! This was my second trip to Scuola Vecchia, I ate there last year, and thoroughly enjoyed it, and I am happy to say nothing has changed! Delicious pizza, with a great crust...saads were really nice too! great atmosphere, and th staff was great! Hope to visit again some time...nice to know from previous experience that you will definitely enjoy your meal. If you're in Delray...make sure to have a pizza night. Buon appetito!
