“Mark is the sweetest!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

Absolutely adored this place! Mark, the inkeeper, is sooooooo nice!! We didn't meet Vickie until the day we left, but she was very nice as well. Love the British accents, too! We always stay at B & B's and this one is one of the nicest! Very quaint, very charming. The breakfast area reminds me of an English Tea Room. There is a separate sitting area and even a t.v. room! Our room was in front (we had our dog with us) with the wrap around porch. Rosie, (Mark's dog) was very interested in our little minature poodle! She was smelling him while my boyfriend held him (he's gets a little freaked with big dogs) but she was very gentle. We will be going back to Deland often as my best friend just moved there and we will definitely be staying at this B & B on a regular basis!! It was very close to where my friend lives and very close to the downtown area. Really awesome!! Thanks Mark!

Room Tip: We stayed in the front room as that is the one reserved for those with pets. It was great! Nice ta...

My husband and I stayed in this charming B and B in DeLand, FL during orientation weekend for Stetson. What a wonderful place with wonderful hosts Mark and Vickie. The rooms are cozy and romantic and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. Excellent location near downtown DeLand and Stetson. Highly recommended!

I've stayed here numerous times - as a Stetson graduate and alumni board member, having a clean, comfortable, inviting place to stay makes those college reunions so much better. Mark and Vickie Sutton are awesome hosts and have a lovely home right near downtown. This is great for those of us who wander (as wander we shall in evenings) by the Elusive Grape Wine Shoppe, Blind Pig Bar or Dublin Irish Pub and who definitely don't want to drive after 2-3 libations. The feel of the house is authentic and they have done a wonderful job of getting everyone private baths and comfortable mattresses in every room - there is even a guest cottage for rent out back for larger parties (great for Race Week and Bike Week too!) I've tried the Artisan but the faux-bar/restaurant atmosphere and the dodgy check-in and check-out procedures (and who really owns the place anyway?) make returning to DCI easier. Plus Mark, as a Brit, really knows his way around a rasher of bacon and eggs over easy....

Room Tip: They are all good - I'm partial to the upstairs room at the end of the hall....a bit bigger and...

I could not wait to stay at this Bed and Breakfast. Our son goes to Stetson University and we usually stay at a chain hotel close to the campus. What a treat this was!! Just a walk away from the University and off the main streets. Just across from the Police station and Fire house.

Mark greeted us with warm smile and was a terrific host. He accomodated us by putting an extra bed in the room, just in case our son wanted to stay with us. That did not happen!!

The house is an old Victorian beauty with charm and warmth, just what I was looking for and has a cottage out back that can sleep 8 with it's own full kitchen. Don't miss out on the custom breakfast to order prepared by Mark and Vicki. AMAZING!!!

I left feeling like I stayed at a friend's home and enjoyed every second of it~~~
Thank You,

Pat and Kelli Mate

Room Tip: All of the bedrooms are upstairs but they do have a dog friendly and handicap room downstairs.

From the moment we arrived and were greeted by name from Mark until we left the next morning after eating an outstanding breakfast we couldn't have been more impressed. The B&B's location is a stones throw from Deland's quaint downtown. Nice wraparound front porch was a great place to hang out. I have stayed at nicer B&Bs from a quality of facility standpoint, but not from a service and breakfast standpoint. You get to order from a full menu vs. not having a choice like at most B&Bs, plus you can order as much as you want. If you go to Deland I can't image a better place to stay.

Most of the other reviews were not right once we stayed there last night. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas inside and out. Our room no. 4 was perfect for us except that it needed a second chair which we felt there was room for. Be prepared for a small shower and a small separate sink and toilet room if you pick room #4. Breakfast between 7 am and 9 am was appreciated for its length of time. The breakfast menu was like a restaurants with plenty of choices and did it ever taste good. The other guests we met were very nice. Front L-shaped porch awesome. Loved that we were in walking distance to restaurants, shops on the main street, and even a grocery store if we needed it. We had a refrig and microwave in the room that we selected but the microwave may have to be a special request for some rooms. We definitely want to go back for a little get away. Oh, and prices super reasonable per night.

Room Tip: One room on first floor and rest on 2nd floor. Staircase easy to do as one landing along the way to...

Mark could not have been nicer or more accommodating on our recent visit BUT any potential guest needs to know to expect to encounter a lot of deferred maintenance and worn furnishings. Lights that don't work, hardware that falls off, grimy showers, not-quite-clean bed linens. The repairs that have been made look as if they were done for economy and not for aesthetics. We only stayed for two nights so decided to stick it out, but had we been here for a longer stay, we very likely would have found another accommodation.
