We find this hotel by a Florida Savers coupon book (such as Room$aver), called them and needed no reservation.
Arrived there, almost hit by another car racing over parking lot. The driver was upset about his room and we saw him loudly complaining at the desk (about leaks etc...).
A train honked loudly on the railway next to the hotel when we arrived at the desk.
Lady behind the desk told us we could not get the coupon rate of $69. We should pay $89.
Another man came in complaining he had to return three times because of the keys that did not fit to his room-door. He ordered this time someone to go with him.
Told the young lady behind the desk I started to worry about these complaints. So we got the $69 rate :) ...
Went to the room on 2d floor (no ellevator) with lots of luggage and two young kids.
Key did not fit. Went back to office, changed keys. Back to the room, keys also did not fit. Went back and asked another room away from the railway side.
The lady said she did not know what side of the hotel the room was... (!?) Got another room, close to the bar now where loud music sounded, the song, believe it or not; Highway to Hell... :)
Luckely one of the keys did work!
Another lady that arrived after us at the desk got a $59 coupon for a room. As far as I could see she payed close to $100. Saw here walking away from her room close to ours and heard her say; "Oh no, this is not gonna work !"
The room was not looking clean, but that could be a personal (Belgian-European) thing. The smell of sigarette-smoke was normal as we did get the lower rate only for a smokers room... Roomcarpets, walls and movables looked old...
I had to open the water tap for flushing the toilet myself (after I find out what was wrong).
The kids tried the pool but the water was way to cold (same thing next morning).
Beated a bug (a cockroach lookalike) to death that was crawling over the bedside table before going to sleep, after a visit at the bar.
Next morning we went for the complimentary LUXURY breakfast (as spelled on the coupon) to the so called "Breakfast room". There was thee, coffee, soft drinks, toast, bagels, donuts and peeled (!) and cutted apples, some other fruits... So we went to the ON SITE (!) Denny's for a real (American) breakfast with waffles and pancakes ! Yummie ! Met some other hotel-costumers there ! :)
To end, we would say, we found better hotels/motels for that price in America (done more than 35 states now, hundreds of hotels), including pool, clean rooms, and a descent breakfast.
It looks like this roomsaver books starting being nothing more than advertising books instead of serving good prices. Example; we called another hotel around 9 in the morning and got the answer that there would be no coupon rates available, we hear that more and more, no matter what time or day...
Well, the Holiday Park Hotels & Suites at Deerfield Beach could be a great hotel if it as runned by people who care about their visitors and their needs, and know how to run such (tourist)bussiness. They could for example put a nice lady in the (Pool-)bar instead of a "Me speekin Inglish" slovenly careless man with his jogging-pants pulled over his belly filled t-shirt, plaing games on his laptop... Come on !
Asking the $100 for a room lady that walked away (see up) if this is what America is like, she answered; "No Sir, This is just a bad example!" We can do nothing else but confirm that. She's right.
We still love America. America is beautyful, please, keep it that way !
Holiday Park Hotels & Suites at Deerfield Beach, grab yourself toghether and make something of it. Make it better so we can give better review.
