Description: A pared-down, austere looking 1920's building froman era known for its decadence, but of course the decade finished with the wall street crash, plunging America and much of Europe in to depression. The architect here could be accused of plunging a local village hostelry into depression, with its imposing appearance & dull exterior whcih is further accentuated by the decision to face it in a Northerly direction, thus ensuring that NO sun whatsoever touches the front facework of the building. However, in stark contrast the welcome is warm on the inside, along with a great range of ales and a superb homecooked menu, and probably the best sunday lunch for many a mile. And.... the biggest bonus about facing north is the wonderful large south facing garden to the rear, which with its bouncy castle, play equipment, swings and slide is bathed in sunshine all day! Come and find out for yourselves.

“Hmmm... A little disappointed ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

We are regular customers at the frog... They are very accommodating to both our human and canine companions and the service is attentive and friendly. In the past, we have claimed the Sunday roast the best in the area. However, today I took my friends and although the food was good it was lacking the touches it did have. For the same price no cauliflower cheese and had to ask for pigs in blankets. We were then forgotten about and had to go to the bar for the sweet menu and to prompt a waitress to take our order. This is completely different to the service we have received previously- see earlier reviews- so I'm hoping it was a one off- but if this is what fullers has done then I hope they sort it out soon... After all, the chequers next door is getting very good reviews...

“average pub grub”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013 via mobile

Good service but a Very limited Sunday menu with an oddly limited wine list. Food ok but a bit uninspired.

“Caught out”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013 via mobile

Reviews Indicated that this was a good e venue for an evening meal. On arrival we were in between two groups of different ages who were very loud and swearing a lot. The bar staff were welcoming and there was a reasonable range of beers available. The carpet was shabby and the dining area not very appealing as there was stored furniture at one end and, from where I sat, I could see ten people smoking through very large glass doors. The waitress was very friendly and efficient and informed us that the pub has recently been taken over by a chain and was less busy than it used to be. Bearing in mind the atmosphere of the place we found the food a bit pricey but it was perfectly cooked and very tasty, the crackling on the pork belly was superb! As soon as we finished the main course, we decided to go back to our hotel for the dessert, as the pub was getting very rowdy by this time.

“Excellent food, good value, poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

The food is excellent and good selection of beers at great value. Ample parking and a welcoming atmosphere. However very much understaffed and the weekend staff there clearly don't want to be there - when recently eating in a large group it was difficult to get service and we were simply refused when asked for separate billing.

Excellent as a family pub, however they simply don't have the capacity for groups and I will look for other venues in the future.

“Large Sunday Roasts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

We went for Sunday lunch last week with the family and had a really good meal. The roast dinners are great value for money and large portions. More potatoes and gravy were provided free of charge. Th only complaint was that my daughter used the mothers and baby/disabled toilet facilities and they were not very clean and the loo seat was off. All in all a nice place for a roast.
