Description: A pared-down, austere looking 1920's building froman era known for its decadence, but of course the decade finished with the wall street crash, plunging America and much of Europe in to depression. The architect here could be accused of plunging a local village hostelry into depression, with its imposing appearance & dull exterior whcih is further accentuated by the decision to face it in a Northerly direction, thus ensuring that NO sun whatsoever touches the front facework of the building. However, in stark contrast the welcome is warm on the inside, along with a great range of ales and a superb homecooked menu, and probably the best sunday lunch for many a mile. And.... the biggest bonus about facing north is the wonderful large south facing garden to the rear, which with its bouncy castle, play equipment, swings and slide is bathed in sunshine all day! Come and find out for yourselves.

“Excellent Pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

This is an excellent pub. The food is very good, I especially recommend the Sunday lunch. The staff are fast efficient and friendly. Beer kept in superb condition and there is regular live music and themed events. On Tuesday's its Curry and quiz night which is good fun for everyone. Mark and Tania you run the best pub for miles around. Keep up the good work.

“Sunday Lunch is excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

They do an excellent sunday lunch here and the staff are friendly and attentive. The beef on our visit was very nice and cooked perfectly for our tastes (medium rare). The portions are very hearty and the live music on our visit was a welcome addition to our afternoon out.
This pub gets better as the weather improves too as there are extensive outdoor areas and they do events throughout the summer. Personally I look forward to the classic car days.

“Excellent Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

The quality was far better than the average sunday lunch. Beautiful roast with lots of fresh vegetables. The pub was completely full but the service was prompt and friendly. Highly recommended, Certainly would need to book a table on a sunday.
