“Probably used to be great”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014 via mobile

I stayed with my family for 6 nights and we luckily got the ground floor. My children had a blast however we were very disappointed in how run down the room and facilities were. All the furniture in our room was old and creaky. The pillows were like basketballs and the room had an overall sticky feeling. For some reason the aure stopped working every night around 2 or 3 a.m. no matter how low we had it. Good luck getting a table or chair at the pool and if you did they seemed on the verge of breaking. No matter what room you get it would NOT be worth over $90 per night for sure. We will not return but made the best of our stay. The beach was beautiful! Oh, the food in the restaurant was pretty good and the drinks at the Tiki bar were also good when it was open.

The Grand Seas is located on the beach right off A1A. The front desk staff left a lot to be desired, they were not only unfriendly but during 2 out of 3 of my encounters with them they were interrupted from helping guest to chit chat with the other employees. Traveling with young children the kids loved the multiple pools. Unfortunately the small children's pool was disappointing to say the least. The slide was missing large chunks down the middle and the stairs to the top had a mildewed rope with exposed rusty nails. BEWARE that in Daytona Beach cars are allowed to drive on the beach making it extremely unsafe for children. The view from our room was beautiful but would I stay there again, no.

Room Tip: Wifi only works in lobby of hotel. A/C unit is extremely noisy but it helps to drown out noise from...

Hotel staff is really nice. It is a wonderful resort as long as you get a room on at least the 3rd floor. The rooms have huge windows to the ocean. Amazing views. Awesome feature. But it's a gamble. They will not tell you what room you'll get until you get there. If you have a first room floor you will not have the amazing view to the ocean. Some 2nd floor views are blocked by stuff. Rooms are clean. TV's in the master bedrooms hum and make a weird noise. Tv's are decent, not great. Not HD and no guide so finding tv shows is aggravating. They don't have enough pool chairs so selfish people put their towels on them and leave them there all day. Pools are nice though. Way to much smoking and drinking going on there. Mixed bag. Some things were very nice. Some things need improvement. BEDS ARE HARD AS A ROCK (hope you don't mind that).
But again the view from the room is amazing. We would definitely stay there again but if we got a first floor room would give it only 1 dot.

Room Tip: If you get there and get a 1st floor room your just screwed out of the amazing view. 2nd floor to fo...

We traded out through Interval International and were very disappointed in the run down condition of this resort. Our two bedroom/two bath room was dirty upon arrival. The floors were filthy as trash was already on the floor as soon as we walked in the room the first day. House keeping did clean after we requested middle of the week but our room was not cleaned properly before we arrived. *The stairwells were in poor condition and are in much need of renovation. *The entire staff were very friendly. *Checking in and out were very easy. *The stairs going to the beach are steep, at times slippery and might be difficult for some to navigate. *The pools were nice except for everyone "marking" their chairs first thing in the morning with towels when it clearly states not to do this! *The miniature golf area is in horrible condition - this was very disappointing to our kids. *The unit was equipped with good kitchen supplies. *We had plenty of towels to use but are pretty sure our bed linens were not fresh....hair in the bed sheets when we pulled them back the first night. *Having a grocery store across the road from this resort was nice and parking was plentiful....except for the parking lot turning pitch dark when the sun went down. On the south end of the building the parking lot there were lights on poles in the parking lot but they were NEVER turned on so it was totally dark and very scary. *We were disappointed to have traded a 5 star resort for this resort. *The beach was beautiful (lack of a balcony was disappointing too) but we will not return to this resort because of the poor conditions of the building and lack of cleanliness! *Also, they advertise free wifi (and it was free but not useable) ~ the signal was so poor that no one could connect - ever!! Was at the front desk one time and overheard lots of people call to complain about poor wifi signal ~ their answer was to come to the lobby to use the wifi. Don't expect to have any wifi use at this resort in your room!

Room Tip: First floor has a balcony with a patio that opens to the pool area. Second floor and up do not have...

This is MECA for spring breakers, for bike week, for Daytona 500, but it's very good the rest of the year. The staff does a wonderful job. The facilities are beautiful, and are on Dayton Beach. You can "drive on the beach". They have restaurants, bars, gym, shops, and if they don't have it. It's on A1A, right outside your door. Cost $$

Room Tip: Get a room on the Atlantic if possible get a two room suite.

We were sent to this hotel by the Hilton when they overbooked. I didn't have a good feeling about it when we walked in. We gave it the benefit of the doubt even after reading some other reviews and went up to see the room. It wasn't even as bad as the review said - it was worse! The rooms odor could be smelled through the door before you even entered! We stepped in and abrupty turned around and returned the keys to the front desk. The room was awful- very odorus, old and unclean. I was not going to stay there myself, much less with my 6 month old son.
