“Excellent Stay at The Shores Resort and Spa!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

I thought I had written this review last fall but it doesn't seem to be here so I'll try again. :-)

My husband and I spent two fabulous nights at The Shores in Daytona Beach in October of last year (2012). I had gotten an email from a travel website called SniqueAway with a promotional rate for this hotel. The timing was perfect as we were headed to Daytona Beach but hadn't booked a hotel as of then. It turns out the promotional rate wasn't much better than the rate on the hotel's own website but regardless, it was still a good deal so we read some reviews on TripAdvisor and we booked it right away!

We were greeted warmly upon arrival by the valets and even nicer by the front desk staff person. I wish could remember her name because she was extremely nice and friendly. We had a rental car and self-parking was available across the street for free or via valet for a charge. We used the self-parking to save a few dollars, which was okay as there was a sky walk to get back to the hotel. The only concern we had was about our car being vandalized as it didn't appear as though the lot was attended but we didn't have any issues while we were there and it seemed to be a well lit parking lot with lots of people always coming and going.

Our room was beautiful! Spacious and clean! We had an ocean front balcony, which had an incredible view of the beach and the Atlantic ocean. Our king size bed was super comfortable and we had a great sleep both nights. We were provided bathrobes, which was a nice added touch. The bathroom was also spacious and clean. The shower had a half glass door (not a full door or curtain) so we found at times that a lot of water got out onto the actual floor of the bathroom, which was a bit of a nuisance. Also, there were no shelves or racks in the shower for soap or shampoo. This wasn't a major issue but just odd as everything had to be laid on the floor.

The pool area was pretty! There were a lot of chairs around so there was always a place to sit. The lounge chairs however, were dated and not overly comfortable. After an hour or so laying on them, our backs were gone. They could use new ones. Same with the pool towels, they were worn and small. There did seem to be a lot of ants on the ground of the pool area so we made sure to keep our bags and clothes up on tables and chairs. Access to the beach was one small staircase away and the section of beach in front of the hotel was great! We ate (and drank) at the poolside bar; the food was fantastic and our bartender was friendly and fun! In the evenings, the hotel lit what they called "fire cauldrons" and you could sit around the fire under the stars and roast marshmallows to make s'mores (which were available from the hotel for a charge).

The location of this hotel is further down the strip that we've ever stayed while in Daytona Beach but we had a car so we had easy access to restaurants and shops. However, if you don't have a vehicle, it is quite a hike from the main boardwalk area.

If we went to Daytona Beach again, we'd definitely stay at The Shores Resort and Spa and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Room Tip: I would definitely splurge and get an ocean front room! You can sit out at night and listen to the...

My husband and I have celebrated his birthday at the Shores Resort and Spa for the past four years. We have never been disappointed and plan to return year-after-year! This is an exquisite piece of paradise in South Florida, perhaps one of the best kept secrets of the East Coast of Florida.

Room Tip: I have never had a bad room. I would ask for a an ocean view room, and if you have mobility problem...

Attended a wedding in March at the Shores. The bride is my best friend and she was happy with the entire experience which is truly all that matters. The beds were probably the best thing about this hotel they were very comfortable. As far as the rest of the room goes the paint was peeling off the walls and the sink/toilet/shower were dirty. Since we weren't in our rooms much I just ignored all of it but for what we paid for the room itself I think this place needs to some TLC. Also, the staff seems to just not care very much about their jobs. While waiting in line for a drink a the wedding reception both bartenders were talking to each other about their hours and what they were going to do when they got out of there. The food at the hotel is above average. i found the food at the wedding to be great. The snores package is a nice touch but you literally can't get near a fire pit at night as once a group of people is there they stay all night long. This hotel just gets average marks across the board.....the topping on the cake was when I asked the valet to help me secure a cab for the next day and they gave me the phone number instead of calling. I could have stayed down the street for half the price and gotten the same level of service.....

My wife and I spent four days at this lovely resort and we enjoyed every minute of our trip. The service was remarkable from the time we arrived until the time we checked out and headed home. The room was large and spacious and the view of the ocean from our balcony was outstanding. The beach was well maintained and the salt water swimming pools and deck areas were well kept as well. The staff were helpful and friendly and anxious to serve.

Room Tip: The ocean from rooms are the very best.

Positioned right on the beach with driveway access to it, this is Daytona Beach at it's best.

The lobby and bar are decorated in dark tropical woods, feeling a little like Raffles in Singapore.

The outdoor area is lovely and you can even walk down and swim in the Atlantic...it's not heated so I'm thinking that's not going to happen when you have so many lovely heated pools to choose from.

I had a corner room with a lovely balcony. The bathroom was fabulous and the bed very comfortable.

The hotel deck area is nice and just begs you to laze about after a swim. As a bonus, you can eat meals by the pool or at the tables.

I had a good, relaxing time here and I drove away from the hotel along the beach...very slowly. Can't beat it.

We stayed here 3 nights before a cruise. The amenities were nice. Great pool area. Very relaxing. Our room was 710 oceanfront king balcony. We arrived early and were able to check in. The Bed was extremely comfortable. The air conditioning was almost nonexistent.....we had notified the front staff and the maintenance worker arrived quickly and said he fixed the problem (not really) the cleanliness of our room was very questionable. The couch needed updating/replacing. The view was amazing. Staff was friendly.

Room Tip: Balcony oceanfront

We stayed here in January as a last minute decision. We drove from Ontario to Miami, and decided to stop for a few days in Daytona. We found this hotel on the internet and decided to see if they had rooms available. The front check in was incredibly helpful and nice (they made suggestions to my daughter of where to see manatees in the wild - which she loves), the room was beautiful (we had ocean front) and the bathroom was clean and spacious. My daughter who is 11, also loved this hotel - especially the fire pits and s'mores kits provided. The valet staff were polite, friendly and helpful. We only stayed for 2 nights, but we plan on making another visit for a longer stay.
