The check-in process was easy, although it took the manager a few minutes to let me in the office. You'd think they'd have more than one person working at their busiest weekend of the year - the Daytona 500 was in town.
We had a double bed room. My first 2 thoughts upon walking in:
1. STINKY - musty and smoky smell.
2. SMALL - enough room for the bed, dresser, and one bedside table in the "main" room - hardly any other open floor space. Bathroom BARELY big enough for one person.
Towels were ripped, rough and thin. One bar of cheap soap was available, that's it - glad I packed my own, plus shampoo. The shower stall was dark and barely big enough to turn around in. Every time I sat down on the toilet it felt like it was going to break (I am not fat either :) !!) and I had to sit on it sideways because there was about a foot of space in front of it. I am 5 ft. 9 in. The bed was comfortable but I'm glad we brought our own sheets and pillows. The sheets were torn and stained, the pillows had yellow stains on them. I just "felt" dirty by being there.
The A/C was a window unit and it worked well. Ran it all the time even though the room didn't need cooling half the time, otherwise the musty smokey smell would be too prevalent.
I think their definition of "remodeled" is a new coat of (ugly yellow and green) sloppily painted on paint and new flooring in the bathroom. Everything else (carpet, drapes, bedding) was mis-matched and outdated.
I'm glad we only needed this room to sleep and shower in. If I had to spend more than 8 conscious hours a day here I would definitely be looking elsewhere. The office was closed when we checked out (10am on a Sunday) so we had to drop off the key through a window. I will look elsewhere the next time I return to Daytona Beach.
