Boy the reviews of this place are all over the board - glad we decided to go.
Just got back from a week in Daytona - hadn't been there in years and boy has the place changed. A lot of the little stores along the boardwalk are gone (making way for new condos i think) but there are a few arcades and some thrill rides still there - one good thing - a lot of the rif-raf are gone now.
We stayed at the Ocean Walk by Wyndham - these were actual condos with seperate bedrooms living rooms and complete kitchens - we saved a ton not having to eat at restaurants all the time. Our condo had a 2 person jacuzzi tub - very nice and we had wireless internet access in our room - i was told not all the rooms have that.
The place is really cool with 2 indoor and 2 outdoor pools - 1 had a twisty slide, a lazy river to float around, and outdoor hot tubs. the kids 12yo twins grew gills with all the water - plus they had video games, crafts, had a movie on the pool deck and a ton of other stuff. The place is timeshare and a hotel both - we rented from someone who owned their condo - she has a site DaytonaBeachRents dot com and she really helped with all the questions and her prices were much better than when we called direct.
The bad things - elevators uh! sometimes waited 20 minutes - they only have 4 in each of the buildings. Check-in (bring a lunch!) - if you rent from the hotel or an owner DON'T stand in the first line you see - go around the corner to the left where the renters go - the first one is timeshare.
But other than that we had a wonderful time - the beach has no driving there and this place is close to everything - the building next door has stores, restaurants (they have one at the resort too) and a movie theater. other clubs and restaurants and stuff are close enough to walk to.
