Some chains are often inconsistent in terms of food or service - this one The Charthouse chain, does it better than most. We love to eat at the one in Annapolis, down on 2cnd Street, and consider the best one to be in Melbourne, Florida but have enjoyed eating in the chain from Miami to Maine. But we are so often and so regularly disappointed with the staff's attitude and the Management at our closest one, this our ‘local’ in Daytona.

On our last visit in April 2008, on our anniversary, while staying at The Shores, we finally had the window table we had so often requested in our previous half dozen reservations. It made a big difference to our enjoyment, and we are now encouraged to keep trying this Charthouse when we visit Daytona. So often on other occasions – casual dinner, a group visiting the Symphony Concerts or a birthday – we have been both disappointed and angry at finding our table far from a view, our guests names misspelled on the birthday menu, the staff wandering and absent and the Managers downright rude and dissmissive of our dissatisfaction.

The food quality is consistently excellent (it is a well-managed chain generally) the outlook and ambience charming – we do hope that we find on our next return (or on reading further reviews in Tripadvisor) that things have permanently improved – we were so encouraged to think so at this last visit!

order the Lava Cake when you order your entree so it is ready by the end of your meal. there is no greater dessert!

I was very disappointed with the Chart House this week. I have eaten here several times and it has always been good. Last night, by 7:30PM, the restaurant was out of prime rib, salmon, and all potatoes! In addition, the lobster tail, which was supposed to be a 8 oz, was more like 5 oz. Very disappointing for $31. They eventually brought out some mashed potatoes, but the potatoes were still hard (undercooked). The filet steaks, salad bar and service were very good, but when you are spending over $200 for four people, the whole dinner should be excellent!

Reserve a sea view table! This is a gorgeous location, right on the marina with great sea views. I went solo, scouting i guess for when i meet the one i love. The salmon i had was unlike any salmon id had on my holidays to date. Fresh and had some kind of crab or lobster portion ontop. It was brilliant. Yum yum yum. I liked this place so much i went back twice, the second time for a fillet mignon just the way i like it medium well. They made it 3 times for me as the first 2 times it didnt come out right. The manager came over and said it was on the house since it wasnt cooked right the way i like it the first time and this to him was unacceptable. The 3rd time out the chef came over and brought the steak himself. He had added some kind of sauce to it i had never tried before. I cut it open, tasted it, and it was wow! A truly awesome steak, cooked just the way i wanted it. Got to hand it to these guys, they gave excellent service to me twice and at about half the price of the old hickory in kissimee (which i also enjoyed but not as much as this!)

Well done to Chart house! I will miss this when im back in the UK.
