The first thing you'll notice about the Dancing Avacado Kitchen is its attitude. Located on Beach Street, across from a beautiful riverside park and among the various antique and boutique stores that make up the Riverfront Marketplace, the Dancing Avacado Kitchen isn't quite off the beaten path. Still, it feels like you're a world away from the hectic beach eateries just a couple blocks over.
The place has a laid-back, casual sort of feel with humorous signs and memorobilia all over the walls and bills itself as a sort of common ground between meat-eaters and vegetarians. There is a great juice bar and a nice menu selection for vegetarians, while those who are primarily carnivores will enjoy the fantastic burger the Dancing Avacado Kitchen offers. Sides include fresh fruit such as pineapple or fried plantains.
This restaurant is geared toward the health of the individual and of the planet. Smoking is prohibited even in outdoor seating areas and the menu urges patrons to stop smoking and to recycle in their daily lives.
On our trip to the Dancing Avacado Kitchen, two people had lunch with a total bill of about $25. Your mileage may vary. One potential downside to this restaurant is that they close at about 4:00 pm, so don't plan to head there for dinner. Another hint: one day per month (the first Tuesday or Wednesday of the month), all tips left for waitstaff are donated to a local agency that benefits the homeless. The staff of this establishment are extremely friendly and many seem to be hippies that time forgot.
Peace, love, happiness, and carnivores and herbavores dining side-by-side. 4 out of 5 stars.
