“A required stop every time we go to Daytona”

We have a condo on the beach at Daytona and visit 4-6 times per year. Our first stop as we come into Daytona is always the Avacado Kitchen for lunch. The menu is creative and the food is very well prepared. We love the fresh carrot juice and their salads are fresh and delicious. We always take our friends and visitors to have lunch there with us.

I spent two months in Daytona on business, and this was by far the best place I ate in the whole town! It's a lunch place, and at about $8 per person, you can have a great sandwich, soup and drink. It has a delightfully playful atmosphere - lots of color and casual coolness. I always ate inside, because I was there in the middle of the summer, but there are also tables on the sidewalk under an awning. Don't miss this little place - and it's within walking distance of a great theater, The Seaside Music Theater - which is a professional theater in the area doing all sorts of plays and musicals. My favorite sandwich is the namesake "The Dancing Avocado" - delicious!

My wife and I were in Daytona for a trade show and found the Dancing Avacado Kitchen while touring the Downtown Daytona. The staff was friendly and very attentive. The prices were fair and the food was excellent. We really enjoyed the decor. Try the dessert!

The first thing you'll notice about the Dancing Avacado Kitchen is its attitude. Located on Beach Street, across from a beautiful riverside park and among the various antique and boutique stores that make up the Riverfront Marketplace, the Dancing Avacado Kitchen isn't quite off the beaten path. Still, it feels like you're a world away from the hectic beach eateries just a couple blocks over.

The place has a laid-back, casual sort of feel with humorous signs and memorobilia all over the walls and bills itself as a sort of common ground between meat-eaters and vegetarians. There is a great juice bar and a nice menu selection for vegetarians, while those who are primarily carnivores will enjoy the fantastic burger the Dancing Avacado Kitchen offers. Sides include fresh fruit such as pineapple or fried plantains.

This restaurant is geared toward the health of the individual and of the planet. Smoking is prohibited even in outdoor seating areas and the menu urges patrons to stop smoking and to recycle in their daily lives.

On our trip to the Dancing Avacado Kitchen, two people had lunch with a total bill of about $25. Your mileage may vary. One potential downside to this restaurant is that they close at about 4:00 pm, so don't plan to head there for dinner. Another hint: one day per month (the first Tuesday or Wednesday of the month), all tips left for waitstaff are donated to a local agency that benefits the homeless. The staff of this establishment are extremely friendly and many seem to be hippies that time forgot.

Peace, love, happiness, and carnivores and herbavores dining side-by-side. 4 out of 5 stars.
