We stayed there when they had the poop in the pool incident. It was totally not the hotel's fault and they were on the scene quickly and I was glad to see they closed the pool for awhile, putting their guests saftey first.
Our room was clean and it was cleaned each day. We did find two roaches and a bed bug in our room and this is something they really need to deal with. But the pool area was nice and the Tiki bar was clean, the food good and a definite assest to the hotel.
The staff was ok, but could be a little friendlier at the front desk. The cleaning ladies could not have been more helpful and nice.
Overall we enjoyed our stay there and we would like to return.

“Rude Unprofessional Management -Vacationers Beware”

Fountain Beach Resort

Jun 11, 2008

The hotel in general was run down and dirty. We had to change rooms because of filth. The room we were moved to (one of their suites) had broken beds, there was a leak running down the wall and I found a used condom in the hide a bed. The pool was closed because someone was pooping in it, and there were problems with the water (had to be shut off). When we booked this room I was assured this was a family friendly hotel. The people in them room next to us were loud, on the patio smoking pot and drinking, they made a game to see who could throw cigarettes off the patio onto the cars below. It was so bad that I had to make my grandchildren come inside. When I tried to call the front desk there was no answer (several times). I went to the front desk and spoke to the general manager (Patty). She told me that if I shut my mouth and stopped complaining maybe my grandkids would enjoy their stay (she said this in frony of my grandchildren). Then she threatened to have me evicted from the hotel. My daughter made an attempt to get in touch with Pattys boss but her calls were sent to Patty. Patty nor any of her staff would tell me (or my daughter ) who Pattys boss is. Best of luck if you plan on staying here.

I'm not a very picky person when it comes to hotels but this one was horrible. It is by far the worst place that I have EVER stayed (and I have been to other countries). The room stunk. It smelled like mold. The office staff was rude from the first minute that we walked in. They were rude during the check-in. Our room was not cleaned the entire 3 days that we where there. Also, THERE WAS A SIGN IN THE KITCHEN SAYING THAT IF YOU DO NOT CLEAN UP THE KITCHEN OR LEAVE TRASH YOU WILL BE CHARGED A 50.00 CLEAN UP FEE. What kind of hotel if this? Beware if you are staying there, some of the rooms are sold out to private owners and rented out. I believe that is what we got but wasn't informed of this. Plus, while we were at the pool, we as well as other guest were harassed and told that we had to prove that we were actually staying in the hotel. The pool manager was VERY rude. We had to show our room card or else get kicked out. I can understand that hotels don't want other people using their pool; but the thing that got me was that the guy was SOOOO rude about it. He made us feel like we were criminals. Plus the door to the balcony in the hotel was an old worn-out door. It didn't make me feel safe at all b/c it just had a simple bedroom door lock on it. We paid almost 90.00 a night for this hole in the dump. I would have felt safer in my car. Beware the pictures they show you on the website are nothing like what you see in the rooms. I have pictures of my room if you need to see them.

The hotel was ok with the exception that there was hair on the floor. And the room smelled moldy.

“Daytona Needs a Makeover”

Fountain Beach Resort

Apr 13, 2008

The hotel sign which was a plastic overlay said nightly, extended stay, condo. I agree with previously reviewers that the update in the lobby area is nice. It will take some time and money to get this place up to par. I would like to see the lineolium in the elevators removed and vacuumed regularly. At first it seemed like a lonely place and I was questioning if they gave rooms to the homeless. Then the cheerleaders came in and livened up the place. The bar and grill were opened and had a DJ during the day. I wonder if they were private vendors trying to make a go of it. Our room was OK but didn't like the cleaner smell, prefer good old clorox versus some other smells. Also the hall was noisey and you could see the light coming in from on top of the door. I like clean windows and they should hire or have their staff do them at least once a month. Although it has some private owners they should get the same window treatments especially the ones facing the ocean. It looks bad with all different ones, adds to the tackiness of this place. I felt more comfortable walking on the beach than on the street. Pretty run down in spots. The Pizza Hut smelled terrible too, like a zoo.

Management Response
Daytona954, Director of Sales & Marketing
(Management representative)
Apr 23, 2008
I have just joined the staff of the Fountain Beach Resort. I am the Director of Sales & Marketing. I have served and worked in Daytona Beach for nearly 20 years. I have watched Daytona Beach go through a metemorhysis. It has transended from a destination of small "Mom & Pop" properties along with more prestegious hotel properties, to a Destination where most of the older properties damaged by huricanes and age have been replaced by new properties and Condo-Hotels. Daytona Beach has become a New Destination with properties that are still in transition. They are going thru remodeling and renovations with complete make-overs. This is a timely and costly process. We at the Fountain Beach Resort are one of those properties. We have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars renovating our property and raising it's standards to meet the expectations of the guests travelling to Daytona Beach. As a Condo-Hotel, all of our units are owned by private owners. We strive to maintain the standards our guests expect when staying at a 3-Star Hotel. In the hospitality industry, you deal with guests who all have different expectations. If a particular guest feels you have not met their expectations you try to rise to the challenge to satisfy that guest. In most cases we succeed. When operating a Condo-Hotel, we manage units owned by individuals. No two rooms are alike. Thay all have different furnishings and decor. Some units are newer and more modern than others but they all meet our expectaions and those of a 3-Star Hotel. Yes, in the hospitality industry, problems occur. Challenges to overcome each guests perception of what they expect from your property is what makes our careers enjoyable. It is our pleasure to serve each and every one of our guests to meet their expectations. We meet the Day to Day problems as any other industry. We also are part of the solution. We take each and every guest's comments very seriously. We try to be pro-active and meet everyone's expectations before they arrive.
Sometimes we have to be re-active and manage a particular guests expectaions differently. To those guest who march to a different drummer we appreciate the opportunity to meet their needs. We are one of the most progressive properties in Daytona Beach. For every guest who feels we have not met their expectations, we have thousands of repeat guests who love the services we provide. The Angels who love you rarely complain and don't post their comments. We appreciate the guests who take time to point out where we can grow and when we should try harder. Thank you to each and every guest who sheds light on our doorsteps for it makes us better for having been given the opportunity to serve them.
Best regards to All,
