“Hotel was ok, location was great!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2010

This is not a typical Hilton, the rooms were on the small side. Everything was clean and neat and we were able to check-in early.

The location was great, lots to do and see. The fireworks Saturday were great. If you have teens, this is a great place to stay because of the activities both onsite and around the hotel

The onsite sportsbar was below average for service, but the food was good. Cost was average for onsite dining. The breakfast buffet was pricey but the food and service was good.

This is a great hotel right across the street from the Convention Center! Check in was a breeze, staff at the front desk was great and very present throughout the hotel & during the week. Lots of teenagers were staying at the hotel and the staff helped monitor the elevators and the teenagers were very respectful. Staff was very helpful to get me in touch with a colleague when ATT had trouble with their cell service. Restaurants have lots of options & good food. I had a leak in my room the first night and hotel was very apologetic (hey, it happens!) and quickly got us moved to a new room & offered to help get our luggage to the new room. Our room faced the ocean & it was a beautiful view! Sand Volleyball below & lots of activity! My only dislike was being able to still hear a little of the noise through the glass (15th floor).

We live in central Florida and go to Daytona a lot, frequently spending the night. This is the best hotel we have stayed at in Daytona. It was clean (remember this is a beach hotel that gets a lot of use). The location is perfect , right in Ocean Walk. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great rates, especially earlier in the week. No resort fee. Lots of activities, decent pool and hot tub, plenty of bars and restaurants. Pay the $ 17 for valet parking. It is worth it and we never had a problem getting our vehicle.

Some people have a negative view of Daytona Beach. We love the vibe and its laid back atmosphere. We bring our own gazebo and chairs and park on the beach. If you want something fancier, go to Hilton Head, Miami, Amelia Island, etc. Just expect to pay a lot more.

We have already booked a room in August ($ 69 per night).

Day 1.We booked our room thru hilton honors, requested a 2 nd floor room because we have a special needs child, the person at hilton honors told us she would put in the request but suggested we call the actual hotel which we did , twice, both times we were told that should not be a problem. We get to the hotel to check in and we are put on the 11th floor. We complained a lil to no avail went to our rooms and our card keys dont work. After two trips to the lobby we finally get in our ajoining rooms and promptly wait atleast 30 more minutes for our luggage. A call to the front desk to see what the problem was revieled someone called in sick ( would love to hire that guy he must be some kind of worker when he is there).
Day 2. Best day of the stay, went to the beach which is the best part of the hotel, out the back door and you are there. The beach was clean and spacious and the pool was nice.
The problem was when we were coming back to the room we noticed a million kids checking in. After a little checking we were told it was 3000 kids for a chuch convention, which is fine with me, i just think they should advertise on their website so people looking to relax could pick another time or place. It was the loudest night ever kids yelling and screaming all night long.
Day 3. Went to the beach , around 1 pm classes must have let out because the spacious beach became shoe box. Check out the pool but no luck there either, kids everywhere altho i did see security make 3 locals get out of the pool and leave the property. That night i hear profanity and im sure my 9 yr old did too, i look up to see locals picking a fight with two guest all this is 15 feet from the back steps (the manager said it belong to the city).
Day 4 . Spent most of this day at the halifax emergency room due to my 67 yr old mother being ran over by 1 of the 3000 kids playing football on the beach. Before we went to the hospital i called the front desk to get our car because valiet never answers their phones. i told the lady at the front desk what had happened and she said she would send someone trained in first aid to check on her and we are still waiting on that person.

Our room had damage everywhere ( closet doors didnt work , tub didnt have a stopper)
in the hallway of the 11th floor there was water damage that caused a rise in the floor and loose carpet so if u decide to stay becareful.

To sum it up, unless you are 1 of the 3000 kids i spent the week with who had a great time, i would not recommend that you even consider this hotel.

We traveled to Daytona from July 18-23 for a family vacation. Me, wife, 11 year old daughter and 9 year old son and two dogs.

Checking in on Sunday afternoon at 5 PM, the room was not ready. Staff tried to accomodagte us with giving access to hotel amenities unitl the room was ready. Problem was they could not handle the dogs being present, so we sat around until the room was ready. It took about 30 minutes before the room was ready. We were told that we would get a complimentary breakfast the next morning, but when I checked the bill during the stay we were charged for the breakfast. I asked the staff and they said I should have been given a coupon at check-in, but we did not receive one.

Room is just okay, rather small. We had the issue most of the week with housekeeping only leaving 3 towels each day for the 4 guests in the room. We did pay for internet access in the rooom.

Valet parking onsite was $17 a day. A bit steep, but well worth it. Valet staff was very helpful in providing directions.

There was a teen church camp at the auditorium across the street, so there were hundreds of kids around the hotel. At certain times of the day, there was a 5-10 minute wait for the elevators. Overall the kids were well behaved.

Hotel touts itself as totally non-smoking, but we found several of the guests in nearby room smoking off the balconies. We were down wind of the smoke and smell. Our balcony had cigarette butts on it from prior guests There was also smoking area outside of the entrance/valet area. We find it disgusting to have to walk through this area.

Beach area was nice. Renting 2 chairs and an umbrella was $30 for the day. There is only one place to rinse your feet off when coming back to the hotel from the beach. A few times it was not working at all.

There is a volleyball area, which had people playing often.

Pool area is just okay, as you can tell the pool is older and has been painted several times. With all the teens staying at the hotel, the pool was often over crowded.

There is a food court area on the lower level and a bar area by the pool. We did visit the food court one day. It was a bit expensive.

Hotel is located within easy walking distance to several places. Daytona Lagoon, Ocean Shoppes, etc. Pizza, doughnuts and ice cream shops are right across the street.

Daytona Beach is definitely known for being a spring break destination and this hotel showed some of that. It definitely wasn't my idea of a "typical" Hilton. This could be a GREAT place or a HORRIBLE destination depending on what you're looking for.

A cheerleading conference/competition was being held nearby and lots of squads were in the hotel. Lots of OTHER teens were in the hotel too...having a great time. They were literally running amok in the hotel. One boy ran through a restaurant area, put his hands on the rails and jumped over just to beat some of his friends who where also running to get to the elevator. Nobody said anything to them. Is this the fault of the parents? the hotel staff? or the kids? You decide.

Bellmen were on the spot when it came to helping us unload our vehicle and were prompt in bringing our things to us. However, he seemed rather haphazard about it trying to squeeze through the opening in the room with a corner of a bag hanging off and scuffing the wall in the process.

We booked our room through Hilton Honors and requested an oceanview, but we didn't get it. We used points to pay for the room which, in my opinion, is the reason "none are presently available". :o(

I liked having an additional sink/vanity/mirror/outlet area outside the bathroom.
We didn't try any restaurants.

Parking overnight valet was $14

Front desk girl didn't know what to do for jellyfish stings. (I figured a "local" would know and would have guessed that at some point in her career that someone would have asked the same thing. Instead I was referred to the gift shop "where they would likely have something for it". Found another hotel employee and were escorted to another area to wait while he went to get a disposable cup with about 1/2 c vinegar in it.)

Were sort of scolded the next morning when waiting for valet to return vehicle. Hubby went to lobby to secure a cart for all our things, found one unattended, brought it up, loaded us, and back down we went. A valet saw it sitting near us on the sidewalk and asked whose it was. Apparently each valet is assigned a cart and someone left theirs when they shouldn't have.

Beach was wonderful! Loved having some surf (there is none in the Keys) and an ocean breeze along with powdery sand.

No wifi in the room, son went to the lobby to snarf it up. While he was there he saw elevator after elevator full of kids going outside for some volleyball and other outside activities at 10-11pm I think they were just pick up games, not actual activities planned by the hotel. He came up to change and went back out, not coming in until 2am. He met a lot of cool people from all over the place and had fun just hanging out with kids his age. Hubby went down to play volleyball for a while too (and to assess the situation). He enjoyed it as well.

Had a special request at checkout...needed the block to be released from credit card due to a large business expense hitting about the same time. Front desk man heard me, understood me, called my credit card company and things went off without a hitch!

If you want an upper crustier Hilton experience, go elsewhere. If you want to go and cut loose and are a kid friendly type of person, this is the place for you.

We stayed at Hilton Oceanfront from June 26 2010 thru July 6th 2010. This was the best hotel i ever stayed at in Daytona Beach. We always dreamed of staying here and my dream was finally fulfilled when i got a great rate. I will be back next year for 12 days again if i can get another great rate. Everything was perfect at this hotel from location to housekeeping. I got a better than expected room even though i booked a room selected at check in room. I had pool and ocean view and was so pleased with this. The whole staff was great and friendly especially the manager who stood in the lobby and was always asking people if they needed anything. He was the best. Rooms were very clean and housekeeping was right on it everyday. Never needed anything. I will be back next year and every year. For those of you who dont like the Hilton go stay at the Desert Inn and you will be back. Hats off to the Hilton staff
