“Nice, But Could Be Better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

There are a lot of things to like about the Hilton Daytona Beach. The location, the staff and the common areas of the hotel were very nice. The rooms, however, could REALLY use a make over. First the good points; The location is great! You can walk to stores, restaurants and various entertainment venues. The staff was excellent. Everyone from the front desk, to the bellmen, to the valets, to the housekeeping staff were very helpful, very friendly, very polite and always in an upbeat attitude. The lobby, the pool and other common areas of the hotel were very nice. The reason I only rated this hotel average was because of the condition of the room. I paid $250 a night for a standard beach front room. My room was on the seventh floor of the South tower and had a great view of the beach and boardwalk. I realize I was paying more for the view (which was amazing), but the room was very worn. The upholstery on the sitting chair was dirty. The desk chair had stains on it. The furniture had scratched paint. The walls were dirty and really could have used a new coat of paint. The rooms do not have a balcony. They have a sliding glass door you can open and a railing to protect from falling, but there is no balcony to sit out on and enjoy the ocean view. Also, there were tiny sugar ants coming out from behind the switch plate in the bathroom. Maybe I am spoiled, but I expected much better for the money paid. Another thing that weighed into my rating was the cost of the breakfast buffet. The buffet was nice, the food was good and our waiter was very nice, but at $20 per person it is pricey. I have a family of five. Call me frugal or just call me cheap, but I have a real hard time spending over $100 for my family to eat breakfast. All in all my family enjoyed the stay and I guess that is what matters the most. I am sure we will stay there again, I just hope the rooms get some much needed TLC before we do.

Room Tip: Pay the extra money for the beachfront room and request a room in the South Tower.

It is great to learn that our convenient location made exploring Daytona Beach easy for you and your family, we love that you got to stroll the boardwalk and shops. We are deeply disappointed, however, that your guest accommodations did not exceed your expectations. While we are currently renovating our guest rooms we always hope to deliver top-notch accommodations to all of our guests. We take the feedback our guests provide very seriously and have shared your input with our housekeeping and maintenance team who will further investigate your comments. we stayed for a night at the Hilton. we got a standard room with a king sized bed. for the amount we paid i would expect to not have to pay for parking, we opted out for valet and self parked for a fee. the lot was across the busy main street which was very annoying. the room was a bit sad. i was expecting more from a Hilton, i kind of felt like i was in a cheap hotel by the set up and decor. we had a "street view" room aka the "dirty roof view". we were a floor above the rest of the lower part of the hotel and got a horrible view of the roof and the garbage people liked to throw out there... couldn't even see the street.
the plus side was the room overall was pretty clean. and the bed was super comfortable. and the location was right on the boardwalk. seemed there was a lot of things to do there, they set off fireworks when it got dark and we ate funnel cakes.
i would stay again if i could pay half of what i did.

While we are thankful that you found our location ideal for enjoying a delicious funnel cake and fireworks, we are truly disappointed to read of your experience and it certainly is not what we want for our guests. It is appreciated that you shared that your room was clean and that the Serenity by Hilton bed was comfortable, however, we regret if any aspect of your accommodations missed the mark. We’re renovating numerous areas of our hotel and are thankful for your understanding throughout the process. To ensure our guests consider staying with us to be a value, we offer specials and packages on our website that feature discounted rates, free parking, breakfast and more. We invite you to check these details and return for a future stay so that we may truly impress you.

We only stayed one night here & I really liked that it was so close to the beach, but the room we had wasn't all that spectacular. It was an average double bed room. The restaurants were pricey. We were going to have the breakfast buffet, but it was $20 per person. The hotel is right on the beach though & that was my main interest. The boardwalk was right out the door on the beach side & on the street side there were many places to shop & eat within walking distance.

It wasn't a bad room, I guess I just thought it would be a nicer room for what we paid.

The location of the hotel to the Ocean Walk Village was perfect for our family of four. The room was somewhat small but we did not spend a lot of time in it due to proximity of beach. It was pleasantly appointed and comfortable. We were traveling on a timeshare deal with Wyndham and we were placed in the Hilton. All of the employees we encountered were polite and more than accommodating. We enjoyed the music in the bar downstairs, as well as, the waitresses idea for a cocktail for my husband to try. The barista in the coffee bar was wonderful and we were quite impressed with her professionalism and contentment in being a Hilton employee. We thoroughly enjoyed the Kid's Room - lots of things to do there. The employees could have been a bit more enthusiastic and interactive with the children. The pier had an awesome french fry place with homemade fries at an extremely reasonable price. We traveled in between bike week and the 500 - was great due to crowd size, but the convention center across the street had a Sound Off with Hip Hop music being blasted all day Friday and Saturday - it made our stay a bit uncomfortable with the thump thump being heard in our room (we were glad to not be on the other side of the hotel to hear it even more).

Room Tip: If you are able to afford an ocean view room, go for it. Amazing view! If they do not offer it, as...

It is wonderful that our beachfront resort in Daytona was your family’s home base during your recent getaway! We’re glad you enjoyed your guest room, not to mention the interaction you had with a number of our team members and the time you got to spend in D-Dawgs Kidszone! While we deeply regret if any outside noise disrupted you or your family, we are glad that it did not detract from your overall stay. Thank you for taking the time to review your experience at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort, we can’t wait to welcome you back!

As a Diamond member I received an upgraded Jr suite at check in. Room was nice but dated. Decor is consistent with south Florida.

Pool deck was enjoyable and drinks were reasonably priced. Really enjoyed the live band, played most of Saturday.

Walking distance to many shops, eateries, etc....

Housekeeping was helpful by leaving extra towels without asking.

Workout room is VERY small for the size of the hotel and two treadmills were out of service. Was unable to use it the entire time during our visit.

Not sure what all the negative reviews are about. Lucky enough to get this hotel on Hotwire with a Hot Rate of $65 a night for three nights on Easter week - what a phenomenal price for a beautiful hotel! Arrived around 2pm planning to store our luggage while exploring the beach and found our room was ready and we received a free upgrade to "pool view" from "city view." Overall, this hotel is one of the nicest, if not THE nicest on Daytona Beach and close to everything. No resort fee and were told the during April there was free in room wifi - they gave us a code and the wifi worked well. There is also free wifi in both tower lobbies.

Hotel: Lobby for both North and South Towers were very nice. Fresh lemon or orange infused water in the lobby. Check-in was seamless and the staff were some of the nicest we ever encountered from the bell hop to the valet to managers waiting in the lobby to answer questions. Two nice gazebos for relaxing while enjoying coffee or watching the ocean on the upper deck before walking down to the clock tower. Legends Sports Bar has 1/2 price well drinks from 3-7 (then it moves outside to the Pelican Bar) and 1/2 price appetizers which were big enough to share (prices were $3 to $7 during happy hour - the crab corn chowder at $3 a bowl was awesome; also calamari, seared tuna, nachos, loaded fries, etc). The Atlantic Deli had good coffee and pastries, bottled drinks beer and wine, and an assortment of fruit and pre-made sandwiches). Doc Bales served breakfast, but we didn't eat there or in the Steakhouse.

Pools - there are 2 pools - the one on the lower level in South Tower has an indoor and outdoor section as well as 2 hot tubs (one indoor) - towels are available on the indoor section before walking outside. There is an outdoor volleyball court near the pool. There is also a rectangular pool, toddler splash pool, and hot tub on the 5th floor in the North tower along with pool and foosball tables and shuffleboard. Towels also available here.

Room: We had 2 queens in the South Tower 6th floor pool view near the "boardwalk" (I'm from Jersey and the "boardwalk" is just a couple of rides) - the ferris wheel had a spectacular light show we enjoyed each evening and it was not very loud at all. The beds are very comfortable with clean sheets. We had a "balcony" but as others have said, you could just stand there and look out. There was also a small table and chair, desk and chair, and wardrobe with flat screen tv. Closet had 2 robes, safe, iron. There was a lrage vanity and sink in the bathroom, as well as another smaller vanity outside the bathroom. Towels were large, clean, and soft. I did not see any stains and our room was spotless. There was no fan in the bathroom, which made it very steamy and was loosening some wallpaper. Desk chair had a tear on the outside of the seat. Hallways had good natural sunlight, but at night were dark with only a recessed light above each door. We were at the end of the hall and it was very quite all three nights. Toiletries were nice with aromatherapy smells.

Location: this is the prime spot for Daytona Beach - a block from the pier and Joe's Crab Shack (fishing available 7-7 daily, no license needed, can buy bait at 7-11 on Peninsula just past Main St); next to the boardwalk and adjacent to Ocean Walk (http://www.oceanwalkshoppes.com/) - we ate at Bubba Gumps. Movies on Tuesdays are $5, or $6 anytime if you show your room key card. Across the street is Dunkin Donuts and Hog Wild BBQ; within walking distance are IHop, Walgreens, several bars and restaurants on Main St and International Speedway Blvd. Daytona Beach is beautiful, but the town is a bit dirty - would love to see them power wash the sidewalks - yuck! As you get further away from the hotel on Atlantic Ave we saw some homeless/doped up people, but they were in the minority. Walked several miles each way on the beach and the Hilton is one of the nicest/the nicest hotel in Daytona Beach.

We stayed here 3 years ago, and staying here again, made us remember why we should not return. Our room was dirty, with candy wrappers under the tables, and sand in the carpets. The sofa was dirty, and the bathroom was also. Our family had 2 suites, and both were very tired looking, and felt dirty. A hotel without wireless Internet is a deal breaker for most travellers today. The ocean views of course are beautiful, but the area was not a great place for kids, especially pre-teen, or teenagers. There is nothing for them to do after they have gone to the beach or the movies, and we didn't feel like we could ever let them hang out alone, since it felt generally unsafe. The daily clean was minimal, and we had to call to ask for towels, soap, and toilet paper. We have to come to this area several times a year on business, and it would be nice to find a great place to stay so the family can come along for a vacation, but this hotel is just not the place.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, the feedback our guests provide is vital to our goal of continually improving upon our property and services. It is certainly most disappointing to learn that your stay was not more enjoyable and that our hotel did not meet your expectations. We do offer Wi-Fi throughout our hotel which is complimentary in our lobbies and available for a small fee in our guest rooms. Our location, in the heart of Daytona Beach, is just a short walk from the pier, arcade and numerous, family-friendly attractions. Your comments regarding your accommodations will be shared with our housekeeping team to ensure that despite our beachfront location and warm climate that our guest rooms meet our high standards. We hope you’ll reconsider a future stay so that we may deliver to you a truly exceptional experience.
