“Very disappointed, fees for everything”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

Just spent 8 days in Daytona beach. Let me start by saying that I am am Hilton Honors member and travel often for work and pleasure and I always search for Hilton brand hotels first following by Marriott. Due to the price we decided to stay at a Marriott not oceanfront for most of our stay but decided to treat ourselves the last night of our trip and we were looking very forward to the high Hilton standards we normally find at at Hilton hotel. We were very disappointed by this Hilton. The positives for this hotel is that it is right in the heart of Daytona beach, within walking distance to many things, right next to the pier and rides and attached ot the Ocean Walk which was great but that is exactly what you are playing for with this hotel. The hotel entry ways and lobby are beautiful but that was the best and it went down from there. Once you get to the floors where the rooms are you can see the wear as soon as you exit the elevators, very dingy and dirty. The rooms are spacious and bed was comfortable but very outdated and downright dirty. The bathtub was stained horribly and the room had a very musty odor. There was a leftover food cotainer in the top of the closet where you hang your clothes. The carpets were stained and dingy. The beds seemed clean. The bathroom was large but the toilet barely flushed, the tub was stained so horribly that I wore flip flops when showering. The rooms do not have a refrigerator or microwave, it has been a very long time since I have stayed in a hotel that didn't at least offer a mini refrigerator. we spent extra money to get an oceanfront room and looking at the pictures it looked like there was a balcony but there was no balcony, there was a sliding glass door that you could open and a railing with about a 4 inches space that you could look out, very disapppointing. The hotel has two buildings a South Tower and North Tower. We were placed in the North Tower but it is quite a hike to get to anything within the hotel. Parking was absolutely ridiculous..you are charged a nightly fee to park $12 if you self park and $19 if you do valet...I understand that due to the location parking is difficult to find but I think it is absolutely ridiculous to charge that much money to self park! We did chose self parking but i wished I had spent the extra money because due to the location of the North Tower the parking lot was about a 15 minute walk to our hotel room and when you come back and have items to carry it makes for a long walk. The pools were another disappointment,, the North Tower had a very tiny dirty pool on the 4th floor city side and the South Tower had a nice sized pool that was dirty and had an awkward layout, you could barely see the beach from the pool. It was also right next to the rides which would have been nice except that there is a sling shot ride and while we were relaxing by the pool someone threw up and it sprayed all over us. The pool was filled with college students that worked at the hotel and brought local friends to hang out at the pool and carried on and cursed all day long. The other thing that was really annoying was there were spring break kids everywhere which would have been ok but it was noisy and to make it worse we were walking to our room after an evening out and there were 3 kids laying in the middle of the lobby drunk out of their minds and throwing up, not that the hotel can control them but when 3 staff members walk by and ignore it something is wrong. The hotel tacks on extra charges for everything...a $15 daily resort fee, $9.95 a day for internet (wifi or wired) and the parking fees I already discussed. I was really disappointed with our stay here and am very sad to say I really don't think we will be returning to this hotel which is a shame since it is in a great location.

While we’re delighted to hear that you decided to end your trip with an overnight stay at our centrally located hotel we couldn’t be more disappointed to learn that your visit did not exceed your expectations. Our goal, throughout all that we do, is to provide a world-class Hilton experience in a beautiful beachfront setting. We would like to take this opportunity to clarify that our resort fee is optional and provides in-room Wi-Fi and a number of other amenities to guests who choose this option. Our facility is currently in the midst of a number of extensive upgrades to both our guest rooms and common areas to make certain we continue to offer some of the best accommodations in the area. We regret any inconveniences you may have experienced and wish you had alerted us to your concerns while you were here so that we could have had the opportunity to improve your stay. Thank you for your valued feedback and continued loyalty to the Hilton brand as an HHonors member. We hope you’ll reconsider a future stay with us so that we may to change your impression.

This is a very nice hotel, right in the centre and on the beach too. However, we stayed at the start of spring break and the people next door to me were loud until 2am. Also, directly across the street is the convention centre and we had the misfortune to be staying when there was a custom car show and the noise until the early hours was pretty grim. I suggest you speak to the hotel and check the convention centre website for events before you book this hotel. Also, if you get a sea view room this may help somewhat.

We wanted to relax at a pool, so before booking a room at the Daytona Beach Hilton, we asked to check out the facilities. The desk clerk directed us to a meandering, beach-facing pool. We liked it and that basis alone, we booked a room for two nights. The next morning we went downstairs to the pool area and were blocked by a sign indicating a temporary closure. We expected that to be for a daily cleaning, so we asked when the pool would reopen. The desk clerk said it would be closed for two weeks. “There’s another pool that’s just as nice on the 5th floor of the North Tower,” she said. We then trekked north into the second building and found the 5th floor pool. It was a smaller, old, plain square pool adjoining a daycare centre. It faced a parking lot. Instead of the soothing sound of waves hitting the beach and the scent of the ocean, we heard street traffic and smelled exhaust. We promptly left the pool area, and we did not have the relaxing time we had hoped for. I wrote to the Hilton head office twice asking why this situation happened. It's been three months and we haven't received a response. In my opinion, the staff at this hotel need hospitality lessons, and the head office needs to take quick responsibility for any actions at any of their hotels that distress their guests.

Room Tip: Ask if all the facilities are open.

This is a wonderful hotel in a perfect location for the area, and it has terrific employees. The rooms overlook the ocean, and the view is amazing. The beds are comfortable, the wifi is pretty strong, there's an in room safe in the closet, great selection of channels on the flat screen TV, and it has an extra sink outside of the bathroom (perfect for families).

The pool area is beautiful with a pool bar located on the deck. There's another outdoor bar near the gift shop and sand volleyball area. There's also a deck that overlooks the ocean that is attached to the pool area.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby (I didn't eat in the hotel's restaurants so I can't comment on them) and things to do.

I stayed here on business, but I'm thinking of bringing my family for a long weekend. A BIG plus for me, as a mom, is that the hotel is located on the "no driving" area of the beach.

It is great to hear from a guest that enjoyed our recently updated guest accommodations at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort! Refreshes included in-room safes, wireless Internet in all rooms and enhancements to our in-room amenities package. We’re also glad our pools and poolside dining options were a highlight of your stay, a great way to soak up the sun and take in the beach front views. Thank you for your review and kind mention of our location on the no traffic area of Daytona, we look forward to welcoming you and your family during your return stay!

The location is great! Our room had a fabulous view of the ocean, beach, central pier and amusement park. So much to see, we could barely drag ourselves away from the window. Shops and restaurants surround the property. The pool was very cold and the indoor hot tub should have been warmer, but the overall experience made up for those little inconveniences. Several computer stations compensated for the lack of wireless access in the rooms. Helpful, knowledgable staff complete the picture. Would highly recommend this property for a real Daytona Beach vacation.

My wife and I recently visited Daytona Beach to attend a conference in the area. When we arrived at the hotel we were met by the parking attendants who not only gave us useful info regarding parking facilities but were friendly and polite. They were harbingers of good things to come. The rest of the staff we met at the hotel were friendly and polite. Further, when we walked into our tenth floor room we were immediately met with a beautiful view of the famous Daytona Beach. The room was clean and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. My only criticism and the only thing that keeps me from giving this hotel the full allotment of five points is that the parking and food seemed to be a little expensive. That being said, our room was excellent, service was friendly, and the view spectacular. I hope to visit the hotel again.

If you are a Hilton fan travelling to Daytona, this hotel is for you. You simply can't beat the location - it's pretty much in the center of the strip near Main Street, surrounded by activities and right on the beat.

Pro's:
>location
>great views from the room, lobby, eateries (request ocean view)
>spa and gym on site (request North Tower if you want to use these, the gym is better than most hotels but it's not necessarily 'resort' level because it is still a bit small)
>lots of eating options on site at all levels of cost
>convention space

Cons:
>like most resort hotels there is an extra resort fee
>valet is pretty much required because self parking is 'accross the street and down the road'. valet can get expensive
>no fridge in standard rooms
>like most hiltons, internet is not normally free

Overall I was very pleased to stay heree and would stay again. The location is just too good to pass up .
