Just spent 8 days in Daytona beach. Let me start by saying that I am am Hilton Honors member and travel often for work and pleasure and I always search for Hilton brand hotels first following by Marriott. Due to the price we decided to stay at a Marriott not oceanfront for most of our stay but decided to treat ourselves the last night of our trip and we were looking very forward to the high Hilton standards we normally find at at Hilton hotel. We were very disappointed by this Hilton. The positives for this hotel is that it is right in the heart of Daytona beach, within walking distance to many things, right next to the pier and rides and attached ot the Ocean Walk which was great but that is exactly what you are playing for with this hotel. The hotel entry ways and lobby are beautiful but that was the best and it went down from there. Once you get to the floors where the rooms are you can see the wear as soon as you exit the elevators, very dingy and dirty. The rooms are spacious and bed was comfortable but very outdated and downright dirty. The bathtub was stained horribly and the room had a very musty odor. There was a leftover food cotainer in the top of the closet where you hang your clothes. The carpets were stained and dingy. The beds seemed clean. The bathroom was large but the toilet barely flushed, the tub was stained so horribly that I wore flip flops when showering. The rooms do not have a refrigerator or microwave, it has been a very long time since I have stayed in a hotel that didn't at least offer a mini refrigerator. we spent extra money to get an oceanfront room and looking at the pictures it looked like there was a balcony but there was no balcony, there was a sliding glass door that you could open and a railing with about a 4 inches space that you could look out, very disapppointing. The hotel has two buildings a South Tower and North Tower. We were placed in the North Tower but it is quite a hike to get to anything within the hotel. Parking was absolutely ridiculous..you are charged a nightly fee to park $12 if you self park and $19 if you do valet...I understand that due to the location parking is difficult to find but I think it is absolutely ridiculous to charge that much money to self park! We did chose self parking but i wished I had spent the extra money because due to the location of the North Tower the parking lot was about a 15 minute walk to our hotel room and when you come back and have items to carry it makes for a long walk. The pools were another disappointment,, the North Tower had a very tiny dirty pool on the 4th floor city side and the South Tower had a nice sized pool that was dirty and had an awkward layout, you could barely see the beach from the pool. It was also right next to the rides which would have been nice except that there is a sling shot ride and while we were relaxing by the pool someone threw up and it sprayed all over us. The pool was filled with college students that worked at the hotel and brought local friends to hang out at the pool and carried on and cursed all day long. The other thing that was really annoying was there were spring break kids everywhere which would have been ok but it was noisy and to make it worse we were walking to our room after an evening out and there were 3 kids laying in the middle of the lobby drunk out of their minds and throwing up, not that the hotel can control them but when 3 staff members walk by and ignore it something is wrong. The hotel tacks on extra charges for everything...a $15 daily resort fee, $9.95 a day for internet (wifi or wired) and the parking fees I already discussed. I was really disappointed with our stay here and am very sad to say I really don't think we will be returning to this hotel which is a shame since it is in a great location.
