“A Hilton, but not five stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2011

I knew what to expect before arriving, thanks to everyone's reviews. This is not a bad hotel, but not the 5-star hotel that many people may expect when they see the name Hilton. By far, this is probably the best hotel to stay at in Daytona Beach if looking for upscale amenities. Slow season is here (late summer through early next year), and very good prices can be had. From what I understand, the hotel is set to undergo some updating. We stayed in the north tower, and it did have dated furniture, dirty grout in tiles, older vanity and tv, etc. The north tower is supposed to be the first tower to get the flat screen TVs soon, but I think the south tower has updated bathrooms. GM of the hotel, please feel free to correct these statements if wrong. One thing we did like is that we were able to bring our small four-legged family member with us for a small fee! You are right in the action of Daytona in this area. The summer nights with Bandstand are nice too! Also, right next door to an outdoor shopping area, including many restaurants and movie theater. Will return in the future if I'm in the area.

Being a Pet-friendly hotel allows our guests to bring their whole family, fur-kids included when staying with us! You are correct that we are in the process of updating our resort and we appreciate everyone’s patience while we accomplish this in phases. The Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort is near so many fun Daytona Beach attractions, it sounds like you had a great time. We do hope you and everyone in your family get to stay with us again!

Our stay at the Daytona Hilton was Great! I went with my wife for a 3 night getaway. Let me start by saying we booked through priceline, name your own price. $48. a night.(we saw that price on betterbidding.com) Total with tax was $172 for the 3 night stay. What a great deal. We arrived at the hotel on 9/9/11 around 3:30 pm. The valet greeted and welcomed us with a smile and some small talk. Very Nice. The price for valet service at the hotel is 18.11 per night tax included.(not a surprise because we read it in the reviews). Most Hotels on the beach charge to park. You could save a few bucks if you park in their lot across the street for $10. a night.(who wants to walk in the heat to your truck)
Upon checkin we were greeted by a greeter and waited about 5 min for checkin. Grace at the front desk checked us in. We asked for a room in the south tower(reviews said that the north tower is not as nice as the south), She said that wouldnt be a problem. We also asked for a oceanfront room after she said no problem to stay in the south tower. She upgraded us to a king oceanfront room on the 8th floor overlooking the beach, ferris wheel, boardwalk, and bungi slingshot. What a Great view and nice room. The room was clean, the linens were clean, and it smelled clean. The only downside was the decor was a little dated as well as the TV. Overall we were very happy with the room.
We ate on property at Legends one night. the food and staff were great! We also ate at Hyde Park on Sunday night and had the $19.90 special(Best Deal) and an additional $6. for the filet. Food was great as well as the service. We ate at Bubba Gumps and a few local places. Food everywhere was great.
The only thing I didnt like was that they charge $10. a night additional for wired internet. I have a smartphone so we didnt use that service. There is however free wireless in the lobby if you need it.
The housekeeping service did a good job except one day when I requested extra towels on a note next to my $5. tip, they didnt leave the extra towels but did take the tip anyway. So on checkout day I only left $2.
I dont mind tipping hotel staff for good service. $12. for our stay with housekeeping $22 with Valet, and $4. for the bellhop who helped us when we checked out.
We went to a few local places for drinks on and off the boardwalk. Be fair warned to be careful at night on the side streets. We saw quite a few homeless and thugs. We had no problems except for beggers.
The police in Daytona are on the ball. They were everywhere, on the beach in trucks, on bikes and on foot on the boardwalk. We also saw a few zip by on segways. They do control the area and the trash does not. We felt secure at all times when near the hotel and beach. Keep up the good work DPD.
I wish I could book directly with the hotel at this rate but they said they dont offer rooms at that price. I'm sure we will be back.(through name your price on priceline)
We are very happy we stayed at the Daytona Hilton. It was Great! Thank you Hilton!
Read the reviews and judge for yourself.

Room Tip: Ask for the south side and ask to be upgraded to oceanfront

Family spent three days at the hotel in July. Let me start by saying we had a good time and the staff was fantastic. However, the room lacked a bit for what I'd expect from this class of hotel. Little things, like an old TV in the room and chair with stained fabric. And from where we were in the north tower it was a bit of a hike to the pools and beach.

If you like being close to the Daytona boardwalk and want a hotel with a number of amenities like restaurants and bars then this is a great hotel. However, if you are more interested in nicer rooms with easy accessibility to pool and beach then you might look elsewhere.

I have stayed here a couple of times. Depending on the deal you get, you might even call it cheap! I have been going to the Daytona 500 for ten years now and have tried various combinations of hotels and timeshares in both Daytona and Orlando. By FAR, this is the best location. Prices vary greatly, but if you can get in for a reasonable price, look no further. You can take a bus or taxi to the track (I even walked once last year, but it is quite a distance so give yourself time and don'g drag a cooler!). There are several eating and drinking options right in the hotel. They are typically high priced and the beer selection could be better (lots of regular American swill if that is what you like), but there is plenty of good food and drink within easy walking distance. The ocean view rooms are fabulous! If you can afford it or you can get a good deal, STAY HERE!

Room Tip: Join Hilton Honors. Ask for Ocean View.

The room was not as clean, found hair in the tub. Sand was also in the room by the window, not excessive but enough to show that housekeeping is a little slack. Rude service from the pool service guy. The only good thing about this hotel was the location. You can not get better than this with location. Right on the boardwalk with shops, food, games and sand in your toes. I would still recommend this hotel because watching my family enjoying themselves was worth the little slack in the housekeeper.

Hearing how much your family enjoyed themselves while staying with us makes us very happy, although the problems you mentioned do not do the same. Our housekeeping staff will be made aware of the room service issues and we reinforce the level of standards and quality that we expect to deliver to each and every guest. The next time you need a family vacation, we hope you will stay with us again so we may make a better impression on you.

I just can't understand all the negative reviews on this hotel. I am a Hilton Diamond member, and consider myself as fussy as most. Although the hotel could use some updates, I found its level of cleanliness to be up to par with other Hiltons. In fact, I've stayed at Sheratons that were no better than this Hilton. The location, nice pool, beautiful beach, make this hotel a good choice. Granted, the lack of a safe was somewhat inconvenient. However, we made daily use of the safe deposit box at the front desk.
I've come to the conclusion that most of the complainers are not Paris Hilton wannabes, but instead are so unsophisticated that they just have no idea of what is considered acceptable while on vacation. A good example is the complaint about ants/insects in the rooms. Folks, when staying in tropical locations, you're going to have some insects!
