Stayed here Jan 26th for a pre cruise. Arrived at the airport and was picked up within 15mins of making the call to the hotel. We were given 2 queen beds upon arrival (as requested.) The rooms were clean and very satisfactory for the price paid.
I was almost tempted to cancel my reservation from the last few post made, but am very glad I didnt. First, ALL the hotels near the airport that offer free airport/cruise shuttle have about the same review of the area looking unsafe (per Trip advisor reviews.) So im not sure what the previous person saw/witnessed to the point of making him want to put a chair at the door, but I didnt get those vibes at all. I was only frightful from reading his review.
There were alot of people there for pre-cruise on different ships. Elderly people were outside reading the paper, some were playing cards , They had their doors to their rooms open, their curtains open wide...So apparently the area didnt "bother" them either. Now dont get me wrong its no country club but I dont think you are gonna hear gun shots and police sirens all night. The only thing I dislike about the rooms is that you enter from the outside. I try to book hotels that you enter the room from the hotels interior.
The location is great, close to the airport and cruise port. There are plenty of places to eat like IHOP,KFC, Churches, Subway and some other sit down places all in walking distance. There is a Wagreens (great because my friend forgot to pack her toothbrush.) We walked to get dinner about 7 that night (dark outside) no one bothered us. We walked to the vending machines at the office at 3am (no one bothered us) I walked to the corner market one block up the next morning (no one bothered me.)
We did not observe any bugs in our room or bed (and I checked very good just because of the previous review.) The next day we checked out and as I passed by the rooms I observed house keeping removing the sheets from the bed (good to know they remove the sheets.)
I would advise you that you can arrange transportation to the cruise ships as early as a 10:30am drop off, They run every 30mins. By the time we arranged ours they were booked until 1130am. Awwwh dang! Especially when you are ready to get on the ship.
Breakfast is different boxed Kellogs cereal, milk, juice or coffe, but we are going on a cruise (TONS OF FOOD!) so who cares about that. When we were there they were also doing some road construction near the hotel which caused the shuttle to arrive later back to pick us up, also keep in mind that everyone starts checking into their cruise around 11am so the lines for drop off at each terminal were long too.
I would surely stay here again for any pre cruise out of Ft. Everglade. As Usual I posted pictures so email me with any questions.
