“Better option pre-cruise than post-cruise”

Courtyard by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port

Apr 8, 2008

I recommend this hotel for it's use of common space...a beautiful, large lobby unlike alot of hotels. We also were able to be accomodated in our room post-cruise early, about 10:30am which was a welsome relief...thanks Courtyard!

The location of the hotel was a bit hard for us as there wasn't much in the way to do there. We walked over to the Pro Bass SHop (boy, were my teeneage daughters unhappy about that!) and looked around a bit to kill time.

The pool was nice, clean and had a hot tub. Nice to soak up a few last sunshine rays before heading home to snow.

I would pick a hotel with transportation from the cruiseport at disembarkation (not provided here) as the taxi ride was about $30 and the lines long after getting off the ship. Not a relaxing way to end the cruise...especially in a rain shower and everyone lost their sense of decorum in scrambling for a taxi.

We were not aware of the breakfast costs...it was only after having eaten and presented a bill that we realized the breakfast was not included...our bad. Oh well, we all had a good laugh.

The beds were a bit soft for us...just a personal opinion. NOt as nice as the Hyatt Grand beds.

I would pick this hotel for precruise rather than postcruise for transportation reasons.

Our dinner at the Islamadora Seafood COmpany was outstanding and we felt fortunate it was next door.

“Very nice hotel”

Courtyard by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port

Apr 2, 2008

We only stayed at the Courtyard for one evening. The room was beautiful and comfortable. The pillows are terrific, as are the linens.

The lobby has a miniature store with various brands of iced tea, frappucinos, pepsi and coke products. They also sell fresh fruit, candy, and other snack foods.

We didn't get to enjoy the breakfast buffet due to an early flight. Breakfast was $9.95, available starting at 6:30 a.m.

The hotel shuttle runs every half hour to the airport. We easily caught the 6:30 a.m. shuttle, which left about 6:35 a.m. It was a full shuttle, so signing up ahead is a good idea.

The trains seem to run all night long. They didn't really keep me awake. However, light sleepers should ask for a room on the backside of the hotel.

We were able to walk to the Islamorada Fish Company for dinner. The menu offers both surf and turf, and alcoholic beverages are available on Sundays.

We would happily stay there again.

“outstanding stay for pre cruise”

Courtyard by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port

This place is an excellent selection for a pre cruise stay. They've got the system down pat. We loved the free shuttle from the airport when we arrived at 9:30pm. The driver was prompt and courteous. Then, upon entry, we were greeted by two smiling people at the front desk. The room was as pictured and was clean and very serviceable. They had free internet in the room and free wireless in the lobby. There was a small gym for those who need that. The next morning they had a free breakfast with make your own waffles!! I had never seen that before and really liked it. They then provided free shuttle to the cruise port; the last one leaves at noon and you have to sign up the night before. They had the process down to a science. It worked out great. We would highly recommend this place and will definitely use it again next time.

We stayed at this hotel before and after our cruise out of Fort Lauderdale. The shuttle both times was very efficient. The rooms are very nice and spacious(we had balcony facing train station). The train noise was not a problem. The beds are very comfortable. We had breakfast in the morning for $10 per person and it was well worth it. Staff is friendly and efficient. We signed up for the shuttle service and it all ran like clock work. The seafood restaurant located within walking distance is great. It is called "Islamorada Seafood Restaurant." We will stay here again.

What a fantastic Hotel to stay at pre/post cruise.

The hotel provides a shuttle from FLL to the hotel. Perfect. The room we got (using marriott points) was perfect. Clean and huge. We had a balcony that overlooked the tri rail and lake.

The Hotel staff are wonderful. They went way out of their way to accomadate us. Joseph picked us up from the airport and Tanya checked us in. We love the fact coffee was available 24/7 in the lobby. They also have a food mart that has sandwiches, pop, fruit, yogurt and much more. Every employee were super nice to us. The breakfast provided in the morning was fantastic. It was included with our room rate.

We had reservations at another hotel near by for the night before the cruise along with 7 other family members. We went over to see if it was as nice as the courtyard and it wasn't. So we ended up cancelling that room and booking with the courtyard again. Once again the bus shuttle picked up the rest of our family who arrived well past midnight.. I was pretty nervous because my daughter was bringing our 20 month granddaughter on the flight and wanted to be there to pick them up and bring them right to the hotel. The hotel provided the shuttle way past the set times of pick up. I can't tell you how much I apprecitated that. The hotel also gave us the keys to the other rooms earlier in the day so our family could go right to the rooms and bypass that whole check in deal at 1 am.

The next morning we all had breakfast together. The staff came over to meet our family members and ga ga ove the baby. I really was impressed with the Hotel and it's staff. They get 6* stars from us.

The hotel also provides free wi fi, transfer to cruise port too. I highly recommend this hotel. And I will use them in the future.
