Like a lot of others we used this hotel pre-cruise. We went a day early so we could enjoy some of the Fort Lauderdale sights. Airport pickup and cruise port drop off was a great service. Remember to reserve at the desk. Room was reasonable size, and was exactly like the pictures on TripAdvisor. Microwave, fridge, coffee maker, and coffee provided. It’s not high-end but we were very pleased with the unit. Breakfast was more than adequate. Both hot (waffles, porridge, scrambled eggs, toast) and cold dishes (cereal, fruits, buns, juices), coffee and tea.

Had booked through the Choices Hotel 800 number. I changed my reservation a small number of times prior to settling on the last version. There was a communication problem between them and the hotel. I wasn’t going to get the rates at the hotel that I got through Choice Hotels. I called Choice Hotels, they called the hotel, and I got the rates as originally agreed. Thinking about it afterwards, it would have been more appropriate for the hotel to call Choice Hotels as part of their service and to clear up the misunderstanding, but it all worked out in the end.

Prior to signing at the desk for the pricing I noticed the room safe charge of $1.50. I questioned the desk clerk since we wouldn’t be needing the safe. The charge was cancelled the next day.

Location was great. Hotel is directly across the street from a shopping mall. It has a number of restaurants, a dollar store, a Publix market and other stores. If you’re allowed to take wine on board your cruise ship, Publix is a convenient place to pick up some wine before you board. You can even buy a cork screw if you forgot to bring one.

Hotel is on a bus route. $3 for an all day pass but we could never lay our hands on a complete bus schedule so wasted a lot of time. You could walk to the beach (it was about a mile) but we took the bus since we had other places we wanted to visit also.

Would we stay at the Sleep Inn again? Definitely!

We stayed here before our Cruise in May 2009. The hotel was clean, the room was great, the pool and hot tub were wonderful and the breakfast was super. If you are looking for a place to stay before taking a Cruise this is the place for you. The free transportation to the ship is a real plus too.

Quiet location, not too bad of an area. Restaurant within walking distance, close to major highways and only a few miles from FLL airport. Nice room, good continental breakfast. Shuttle to airport. Ample parking.

Got there a few day's before our cruise. Free transportation from the airport to the hotel, free transportation to the cruise port. We stayed for a day after our cruise, and they picked us up at the ship, and in the AM, free transportation to the airport. Very organized, friendly, and also a free breakfast.

We chose this Sleep Inn to stay at after returning from a cruise leaving from Ft. Lauderdale and flying home the next day. The rate was comparable to the Comfort Inn but we chose this because other reviews mentioned that there were stores and restaurants nearby. And they also offered shuttle service to the Airport.

Before we left on our cruise I called the hotel to ask how many shuttles they have and the schedule. We needed to leave at 6am for a 7:35 flight. I was told that they leave every HOUR on the HOUR and can take 10 people. I could not reserve the shuttle until we arrived at the hotel but, because we would be there by 10am I felt reasonably safe we would be able to reserve it. (we were). The other option to airport is a cab. I’m told it is about $15. but I can’t be sure.

Anyway a friend picked us up from the ship and drove us to the hotel – but others from the ship had no problem getting to the hotel. We arrived at about 10am and we were told that only a few rooms were ready. You can choose the “early check in option” and that is a $10.00 (plus tax) charge. We were told the regular rooms would be ready by 1pm and we said fine. We took a short walk and then visited the small shopping center directly across the street which has a small Italian Restaurant and a Mexican Restaurant plus a “Dollar Tree” store for cheap pretzels and snack. There is also a HUGE Publix supermarket where you can get prepared foods or frozen foods to take back to your room for lunch or dinner. ALL rooms have a fridge and Microwave.

About 12:45 I was told our room was ready. We were on the Second Floor in room 222. It had a King Size bed and was very clean. It was in the front and overlooked the swimming pool and “spa” whirlpool. We were more than satisfied with the room. It was equal to Comfort Inns or Best Westerns we have used. Next I went for a walk. It is 1.2 miles (strait) to the Hollywood Beach. It took 25 minutes at a casual pace each way. Beautiful beach here and if you drive it’s $7.00 to park and lot was full. (Good thing I walked).

Returning from walk I tried the spa for a while and then off to dinner at the Rustic Inn which was recommended by the manager. (Good choice). You need a car but our friends picked us up and dropped off after dinner.

The rooms, lobby and pool area have wi-fi (free) but I don’t have a laptop. I did find the “business center” – a room with one PC with free Internet. You can print your boarding pass but there appears to be a fee for printing.

There are coffee makers in each room along with a closet safe. (ALERT: I Just noticed on my receipt that there is a $1.50 plus tax charge for the safe! – You might want to ask if it is optional. I saw NO SIGN saying there was a charge and we didn’t use it! I think this is “nickel and dime”- ing. The “breakfast room across from lobby has 24-hour coffee and tea. Nothing else. Deluxe continental breakfast is served there from 6:30 to 9 (till 10 am). Since we were leaving on 6am shuttle, I asked when we arrived if we could at least have a donut to go with our coffee. I was told it “might be possible”. When I went down in the morning at 5:30 am the lights were out in the room but donuts, danish etc were out already. I asked the woman running the area if I could turn on the light. She said flatly “No!”. I started to ask if I could at least have a donut or box of cereal since we couldn’t stay for the highly touted “Deluxe Morning Breakfast”. She gave me an intimidating look implying “It doesn’t start till 6:30 so, if you aren’t here then, too bad.” Others started to take a donut and she said “Breakfast is at 6:30”. This was the ONLY poor experience I had here but it was important enough to adjust my comment card rating. For a hotel which wants airport travel business, they should at least put out SOME pastries when she sets up at 5:30. (And she probably would have received $1.00 or more tip per person if she had been more accommodating.

When I checked out I reviewed my bill and there was a $10.00 (plus tax) early check in charge. When I pointed out that we arrived at 10:30 and were told “regular rooms” would be ready by 1pm – the charge was removed.

I think – in addition to having SOME food available early for air travelers, that they should hire a second driver for their 2nd van and offer more early morning shuttles on cruise arrival days. Otherwise, I would recommend this highly to those needing a location to stay before flying out in the morning or staying the night before a cruise.

And, if you are checking out early, do yourself a favor and buy pastries or rolls at the Publix the night before. When we got to the FLL airport the ONLY food available for breakfast was an over priced Dunkin Donuts and a place where you could buy prepackaged eggs and potatoes for $8.00.

The staff at the hotel – with the exception of the woman at the breakfast room were all friendly and helpful.

One final note: The same company also owns the Econolodge. They use same van. We met some people at the pol who had booked the Econolodge and said it was in such a bad location that they were concerned for their safety. The desk person mentioned that they also owned the Sleep Inn and offered to take them here to this location, where they were happy with the accommodations.
