Like a lot of others we used this hotel pre-cruise. We went a day early so we could enjoy some of the Fort Lauderdale sights. Airport pickup and cruise port drop off was a great service. Remember to reserve at the desk. Room was reasonable size, and was exactly like the pictures on TripAdvisor. Microwave, fridge, coffee maker, and coffee provided. It’s not high-end but we were very pleased with the unit. Breakfast was more than adequate. Both hot (waffles, porridge, scrambled eggs, toast) and cold dishes (cereal, fruits, buns, juices), coffee and tea.
Had booked through the Choices Hotel 800 number. I changed my reservation a small number of times prior to settling on the last version. There was a communication problem between them and the hotel. I wasn’t going to get the rates at the hotel that I got through Choice Hotels. I called Choice Hotels, they called the hotel, and I got the rates as originally agreed. Thinking about it afterwards, it would have been more appropriate for the hotel to call Choice Hotels as part of their service and to clear up the misunderstanding, but it all worked out in the end.
Prior to signing at the desk for the pricing I noticed the room safe charge of $1.50. I questioned the desk clerk since we wouldn’t be needing the safe. The charge was cancelled the next day.
Location was great. Hotel is directly across the street from a shopping mall. It has a number of restaurants, a dollar store, a Publix market and other stores. If you’re allowed to take wine on board your cruise ship, Publix is a convenient place to pick up some wine before you board. You can even buy a cork screw if you forgot to bring one.
Hotel is on a bus route. $3 for an all day pass but we could never lay our hands on a complete bus schedule so wasted a lot of time. You could walk to the beach (it was about a mile) but we took the bus since we had other places we wanted to visit also.
Would we stay at the Sleep Inn again? Definitely!
