“Perfect Lodging For Cruising”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Although it was somewhat difficult to find the Cambria Suites as it is off on a side road and there's only a tiny "Cambria Suites" sign. Once we found it, we were very pleased. We were welcomed by a very efficient front-desk staff. Our room was spacious, with microwave, coffee pot, and sufficient counter space. It was one of the cleanest rooms we've ever stayed in. The convenience of having dinner on-site was helpful after a long drive but we waited about 45 minutes for service and the food was basic/average. Although the dining area (at the entrance, across from the front desk) is on the smaller size, there still were not enough staff to take orders and serve. There is also a bar on one end of the dining area that had a decent variety of beers, liquor, etc. Breakfast buffet is served in the same area but we felt it was too expensive for what was offered. While you're traveling, you can leave your vehicle up to 30 days for $5 per day. There are security cameras covering the parking areas. Recommend "free" shuttle to cruise port but a taxi on the return. You can pre-pay for shuttle service back to the hotel but we've never had good luck with that in the past. Too long a wait (up to 2+ hours for pickup!) and then once you're picked up, along with other travelers, you may end up going to the airport first and then to the hotel. We will definitely stay here for our next cruise.

“Fair Choice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

My husband and I recently sailed out of Ft Lauderdale and decided to stay at the Cambria suites the day before our Celebrity Cruise. Since we have had previou bad experiences with "free shuttles" to the hotel, we took a cab. As per previous reviews, the hotel is setback and has a tiny road sign by the street entrance- the cab actually missed it then backed up to enter the stree.

When we entered the hotel at about 2:00 PM, we quickly registered and were given our room keycard. The room was okay- Not great but fine for a pre cruise night. We decided to have dinner at the hotel. That was a mistake. The food was poor and the service terrible. The waitress didn't write down our order and of course it came all wrong and not worth what we paid.

I was cold during the night a took the extra blanket out of the closet. I noticed it was filthy and had been used and put back in the bag. I shutter to think what was on that blanket. I did report this to the management and they replaced the blanket. They really need better quality control on behalf of housekeeping.

The next morning we had breakfast, it was a buffet and looked okay. It tasted fair. We then took the hotel shuttle to the cruise terminal. The shuttle was late, but we opted to wait for it and eventually got to the cruise terminal.

In the future, if we ever stay at this hotel, we will take a private cab to the cruise terminal and surely not dine at the hotel.

““EXCELLENT 3 YEARS AGO, OUTSTANDING NOW””
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

I don't know how The General manager, His executives, and the marvelous staffs continue to do it? The CAMBRIA SUITES meets the test of time: Can you be consistently great time after time, year in and year out? The answer is a resounding YES they can! We've been coming here for 3 years, sometimes with family, sometimes with friends, sometimes just the two of us and most importantly, we're happy, proud, and confident when we bring clients here!
So what attracts us? There's an atmosphere of fun and excitement in the air, for sure. The grounds are meticulously maintained. The pools sparkling -- AND THEY ARE ALL HEATED OUTDOOR POOL. The accommodations are spacious and modern. (Free WiFi everywhere. Flat screen TV's. Super-fluffy towels. These all count in the tally, but what really sets this hotel from so many others are the people who make all this happen. They are genuine and there when you need them. They appear mysteriously to help you with the computers, give directions and make suggestions, and so much more -- all with a REAL feeling of helping.
We went to “15th St. fishery” and it was good!!! Ask for Mauricio and he'll make sure everything is to your liking. He is the bestest! And I’m not shore if he owns the hotel or he works there but he makes shore everything is perfect, from the sofas at the lobby to the transportation. He upgrades our ride to a limo experience.
Limousine service? Yes, WELCOME TO FORT LAUDERDALE INC. It’s the official transportation of this dream hotel, and for a very good price they will transport you like if you are a movie star in a limo or for the same price of a taxi they will drive your group in a nice van.
The many cheerful "CAMBRIA SUITES, Day and Night" wishes can't help but get you off on the right foot. We particularly enjoy the restaurant balcony for dining out, hanging out and star gazing.
If we rated the CAMBRIA SUITES as in the movie industry we would have to award them Oscars in the following categories:
Best Director (General Manager)
Best Hosting (Mauricio)
Best Supporting Cast
Best Location
Best Fun
Best Hotel
Best Price
There is one thing we don't like though--Leaving. We hate to leave, but know it will just be a matter of time before we return.

Room Tip: "Corner suites are large and sunny"

“Our stay was flawless!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013 via mobile

We stayed the night before our cruise, airport pickup within minutes of arrival, hotel was very nice. we needed to find a drugstore before morning and front desk gave us walking directions, we ventured out but I do warn anyone that sees the reveiws that there is shopping nearby to be warned that you have to cross an extremely busy 4-6 lane hwy, the cars are racing and it is frightening. Once we got back to the hotel we decided that we would stay put! When the bar opened for the evening we enjoyed some beers on the outside patio and decided to have diiner there too, the bartender was very accomadating and though the restaurant was not busy the food was excellent! Our room was beautiful but my poor son got stuck on a sofabed and Im warning you again, these babies are NOT meant for sleeping on, it was horrid! The next morning my friends and I went downstairs for a bloody Mary while we waited our ride to cruiseport but the bar was closed, we asked anyway and was told no, but then one of employees noticed our disappointed and promptly rounded us up two drinks, we were so happy and I hope that female employee gets recognized for going out of her way to make a couple of travelers very happy! Our shuttle to cruise was timely, only a handful of people with us. All the drivers were friendly. We also chose to prepay our return ride to airport with the Welcome shuttle, $30 for 3 of us, they picked us within 10 minutes after customs very friendly driver, he joked around with us all the way, no problems at all!

“Hotel itself is good...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night before our cruise. The hotel is very clean and the room is large with a separate sitting area that comes with a second tv. It is walking distance to a plaza where you have different lunch/dinner choices. We were offerred complimentary breakfast after our experience with the free shuttle ride from the airport.

The hotel is approximately 15 mins away from the airport and 15 mins away from the cruise port which is convenient. They offer free shuttle to and from the airport and charges $5 per person for shuttle to the cruise port. You can use the free phone provided in the airport (luggage claim area) to call the hotel for a shuttle. You will then need to go out to a waiting area where all shuttles come to pick up their guests. We waited 1 hour for our shuttle (we called twice to confirm that it is still coming). We were picked up by a white van "Welcome to Ft. Lauderdale". The other 2 people already in the van had waited for a long time too. The hotel recognized this long wait and they offered us complimentary breakfast.

We booked the 11am departure for the shuttle the next morning and we did not leave until around 11:25pm (the shuttle is trying to get as much people they can get in that run).

There was a representative from "Welcome to Ft. Lauderdale" selling transfer from the cruise port to wherever you want after your cruise. DO NOT GO WITH THEM! They charged $10 per person and claimed they were cheaper than if you take a taxi. I think it is true if you have more than 2 people. The taxi ride for the two of us was $14 plus tips.

We did buy from them trusting them that it is cheaper to go with them. We called them after we cleared customs as instructed. We were told that they would fetched a van to pick up us. 40 mins later, we called the company again and they said they never received my call (seriously?!). They said their van circle around the port every 15 - 20 mins and told us to wait. We waited another 20 mins and during this time, WE HAVE NOT SEEN ANY OF THEIR VANS CAME BY. We saw lots of Americans Transportation and All Start. We decided to take a taxi because we have a flight to catch.

Overall, the hotel is good but please avoid the offer by "Welcome to Ft. Lauderdale". We wasted $20 to learn the lesson.
