The staff - the staff was possibly the friendliest staff I have ever encountered at a hotel. We stayed with our 3 year old son and he was overjoyed when they took him behind the counter and let him check us in himself. We had a problem with a piece of our luggage and their maintenance man took the suitcase apart and rebuilt it for us. Last, they booked us a room with no neighbors so our son could play as loud as he wanted.

The hotel - Our room was surprisingly large, more than enough room for the 3 of us. There was a corner couch that was well over 7 feet long. I'm 6' 4" and could lay down with ease. The shower was the largest shower I've ever seen at a hotel. There was no bathtub.

Amenities - They have an outdoor pool but we didn't use it. They have 2 computers with internet access for anybody to use 24 hours a day for free. They have continental breakfast, though it is the weakest breakfast I've ever seen at a hotel. Cold cereal, yogurt, and toast. There was a toaster oven, but this was your only oppurtunity for warm food unless you wanted to pay. They do have a menu available 24 hours a day that was relatively cheap.

Location - It is located right on the on-ramp for the freeway. So when you check in, ask for a room facing away from the freeway. This was the only negative thing about our stay. You can hear every car accelerating up the ramp and it is very loud. There are restaurants withing walking distance, but the only ones we can recall are McDonald's and Burger King. There were non fast food restaurants too, but we just can't remember what they were.

At the $69 a night + taxes, this was a steal. I would recommend this hotel to anybody staying in the area.

Room Tip: Get a room on the opposite side of the freeway.

First of all, they let us into the room at 8:00am, after a red-eye flight, so we could sleep, at no extra cost. The staff was great, good amenities and gym close to the mall. The shuttle is fine, they even took us to the pharmacy when we needed it, not something everyone would do. Nice, new rooms, very comfortable beds. This is a good place to stay.

First about the room and property... The property was nice and well maintained. Our room was very nice and we specifically chose the Hyatt since we would be spending more time in our room. I really like having a sofa, ottoman, desk and refrigerator. I appreciate the free use of the internet. We were on the expressway side and that noise bothered my husband. The free breakfast was adequate but I would have liked a protein option even if it was only hardboiled eggs.
Although we enjoyed our room, our stay at the Hyatt was marred by the extreme delays in getting picked up from the airport from the shuttle service. We called the front desk to request pick up the first time at 11:56 am, then called again at 12:18pm. At that time, the front desk agent said the driver was only a couple of minutes away. We did not get picked up until 12:47pm! Almost one full hour from when we first called! We were at the Area 1 hotel shuttle pickup so we would have been the first ones to be picked up when getting to the airport. When these delays were mentioned both to the shuttle driver and the front desk staff, it did not seem to be taken seriously and the front desk was trying to make excuses. For instance, she said the shuttle may have been full. That was not the case since we were the first area to be picked up and the shuttle was empty. Not once did we get a heartfelt apology. It seemed as though this was a common problem with this location and nobody cared. Hopefully, they will get more drivers or make sure their drivers are more prompt in getting to the airport.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room that is not on the side of the expressway.

Stayed here for 1 night before our cruise out of Miami. Before booking the hotel we called to confirm there was a shuttle to the "Port of Miami" and we were told yes, $12 per person. With this information we felt confident we'd have everything all arranged so there would be no stress on our trip. We arrived at the hotel, checked in, then mentioned we'd like to go ahead arrange our shuttle to the Port of Miami for the next morning. The desk host then told us they did not offer that service and we'd have to make our own arrangements. I was surprised to hear this, especially after we called to confirm. Luckily one of the travelers in our group spoke with the Hyatt shuttle driver who provided her a card for Avanti Transportation. Thanks to them we were able to get to our destination for a decent price.

One other detail that we weren't aware of beforehand is that their local shuttle (5 mile radius) is not available on Friday or Saturdays. Which left once again arranging transportation that we had not planned for.

I stayed at this hotel one night prior to a cruise. The hotel was very nice I wish I could've stayed longer. The price was I think a little too high $200 a night. I would think they know rooms will normally get booked for cruise stays but oh well they got my money....LOL....The hotel was very contemporary breakfast was offered and the shuttle driver Luis was awesome and accomadating. The front desk staff differed in rules from am to pm which caused slight confusion but it all worked out in the end. I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

Room Tip: The surrounding area of the hotel is in an industrial area so its not so nice of an area. But once...

I booked this hotel through hotwire. At approximately 90 USD per night, this is a fantastic deal. The only drawback of my Hotwire deal is that I did not get Hyatt points for my stay. Would I have paid the "standard" price (about 140 USD), I would have given a 4 star review, because this hotel -although very nice- is not perfect.
For the price you get a suite with a very comfortable bed in the ensuite bedroom and a not so comfortable sofabed in the living room. The bathroom was nice with all usual amenities and a big shower. Two flat TV with basic cable channels and a DVD player in the living room. Complimentary breakfast (and a very decent one!) for all the guests (up to 4 per room), free wifi and free parking are also included in the price. Our room facing the swimming pool was quiet. It seems that there are rooms that are more noisy when facing I-95, so be careful when making your reservation. The heated pool itself is nice and was never crowded.
The area -very close to I95, take the exit 22/ Stirling Road- is in a very convenient location (mall at a walking distance) but far from the beach. Approximately 5 miles from the Dania Beach (that I did not find particularly attractive) and 10-15 miles from Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale beaches respectively. So you do need a car if you stay more than a couple of days in this hotel.
A couple of things that could be improved:
1. Extend a little bit the end of time schedule for breakfast: 9:15 am (even during Saturdays and Sundays) is too early for people who are on holidays. Not only would a 10:00am limit make the stay more comfortable for guests but also make the tables by the buffet less crowded.
2. Make sure there are always towels at the swimming pool.

Overall an excellent hotel and depending on the price you pay, deserves in my opinion a 4 or 5 star tripadvisor review.

I brought a group of 20 in for a pre and post-cruise stay. We stayed at the Hyatt House before the cruise and the Hyatt Place after the cruise. The two hotels are next door to each other. The rooms were beautiful, with nice amenities. Both hotels were very accommodating of groups, and went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay. The location is fantastic, just 5 to 10 minutes from FLL and Port Everglades. We came directly to the hotel from the cruise port, arriving at about 9:30 AM, and they were able to get us into our rooms immediately despite the early hour. These will be the only two places I will consider when cruising out of Ft. Lauderdale in the future.
