“Pre Cruise Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

We stayed here the night before leaving on a cruise out of Port Everglades. As was expected, clean nice hotel. We were upgraded to a two bedroom suite which was very nice. 2 seperate bedrooms and baths with a living room and kitchen. Included a large fridge, stove, microwave and small eating table. Flat panel tv's in each room.

Hotel has a nice pool and a putt putt course. They have alot of cruise business and also included a hot breakfast which is a nice added value. Overall was just what was needed for a pre cruise stay and we would use it again.

We had a one bedroom suite with a pull out sofa in the living room. The furnishings were very nice. The kitchen had a full size refrigerator and microwave and even a two burner cook top. My daughter slept on the sofa bed and was very pleased. I would recommend this hotel.

We chose to stay at this hotel based on its reviews. After being here 10 minutes I don't know HOW this place got so many good reviews. When we checked in at midnight there were NO luggage carts. IF we hadn't of had a large volume of luggage and traveling with two handicap elderly people, this wouldn't have been such an inconvenience. Seeing how the lobby was dead and no one else was checking in, we asked the staff where we could find one, she replied, "the guest take the carts to their rooms and keep them for their check out in the morning". As many years and miles I've traveled I have NEVER seen or heard of this! The staff called one of the customers to return their cart and when they did, the cart had a flat. During my entire stay of 10 days at this location, I NEVER saw a single cart in the lobby, resulting in having to carry ALL of our luggage down piece by piece.

The housekeeping will make a half attempt at cleaning your room. Our housekeeper, "swept" the floor by pushing a dirty rag around on the floor pushing the dirt around, never actually "sweeping" it up. vacuuming consisted of her vacuuming in one small square by the door. When she asked if we wanted our bed made and we said yes, she huffed and hastily made the bed. We asked for "extra" towels meaning enough for 3 people, more than the 2 towels and washcloths they left for us. While she gave us ONE extra, we had to ask EVERYDAY as she would bring in 2 of each.

After reading one of the reviews "Kitchen has everything you would want if you wanted to cook a meal (just bring the food!)" We did just that, we brought the food, but had 1 spoon, 1 bowl, 4 cups 2 plates...the kitchen was a half attempt at being stocked. There were NO knives to cut ANYTHING. We had to ask the front desk for a knife and we had to "borrow" one from the kitchen. The dishes that were in the cabinets were dirty. There was NO dish soap, for the dishwasher or sink, We had to furnish our own. (The Residence Inn supplies BOTH)
I wasn't aware we would have to completely stock our own kitchen to actually make a meal.

The rooms were spacious, the linens and towels were clean. The floors were quiet and they had a good size selection of food for the breakfast. The light meals in the evenings were of generous portions. We used the handicap suite with a roll in shower. The bars next to the toilet and in the shower were accessible to a person that is partially paralyzed. The vanity on the sink was open and allowed for a wheelchair to easily fit underneath it. The door handles were lever style allowing for a handicap person to open them with ease. The bed was low enough to allow a handicap person to easily transfer from chair to bed with ease, it wasn't too high or too low. The dinning table was the perfect height for a person in a wheelchair. The shower includes a sturdy fold down bench to hold a person over 250 lbs. The shower nozzle and faucet handles were within reach and easily operable for a handicap person with partial use of their hands. These are all things a TRUE handicap accessible room NEEDS to TRULY accommodate a handicap person. This room met ALL those needs perfectly. After seeing MANY handicap "accessible" rooms, this was one of the FEW that was truly accessible.

It a shame that the rooms were so nice, but the housekeeping was lacking as well as the staff service. If they had been half as good as the hotel reviews stated I would have EASILY changed my review. For my 107$/night for 10 days it was a real disappointment. IF the services/housekeeping would improve and actually CARED about providing GOOD customer service, I would gladly stay here again.

Room Tip: Make sure your kitchenette is FULLY stocked (correct number of cups, bowls, plates, and utensils). M...

We had another great stay at the Homewood Suites Ft. Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port. Rooms are spacious with every convenience you could want. We had a 1 bedroom suite with a separate living room & kitchen area. Kitchen has everything you would want if you wanted to cook a meal (just bring the food!). The only downfall is that there isn't a restaurant at the hotel (with the exception of where they serve breakfast in the morning). There is no room service either - apparently they have a shop where you can buy snacks down near the desk. We have stayed here twice so far and we will be back when we return to Fort Lauderdale.

Room Tip: 1 bedroom suites are great (especially because they are only about $10 more than booking a studio su...

Homewood Suites is one of my favorite hotels because I like having a kitchen whenever I travel. Rooms on the second floor are for smokers, unfortunately that is also where the washer & dryer is located so the smell is horrendous as you exit the elevator. The hotel staff at this location is definitely one of the best.

I travel 4 to 5 days a week for business and I have stayed at this location Numerous times. I have always had an excellent experience that this Homewood suites. The staff is always been extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are always clean and well-maintained, which tells me that the staff takes ownership and pride in the standards that the Hilton brand commands. I will continue to stay at this Homewood suites when traveling to South Florida. And I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in this area.

We were booked here by our airline during a layover. Good choice. We were very satisfied. Clean, quiet suite. Comfortable bed. Good stay. Only downside was the lack of local eateries. They do, however, provide a shuttle to some restaurants that runs until 11PM.
