“BEDS are very comfy.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

The location can't be beat, right on the river, we had a 2nd floor covered balcony and got to watch "DEBBY" from the balcony.
Beds are very comfy but this old hotel sure needs a lot of cosmetic updates.
The price was good for the condition.

Room Tip: try to get 2nd floor!

Overall a fun place. I wouldn't say nice but it's an old place at a great location. A few repairs and some cosmetic stuff and it would be great. But what do you expect for a 50 year old motel. The restaurant is GREAT! The staff very friendly, except the jerk in the dive shop that acts like he's doing you a favor renting you a boat. We ahead a blast as a family reunion. Nice grounds and pretty clean. Trust me my wife is a clean sheet freak. I would defiantly go back just for the restaurant and friendly servers. The owners need to send their brother or who ever it was in the dive shop packing.

Room Tip: Get a room in the building by the pool, much bigger

Unfortunately, stuck here July 2011. This, by far, is THE WORST dump I have EVER experienced in my years of traveling throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central America, and Europe.

To save you time, and spare you the long, long list of atrocious conditions at this place...I'll get it covered in 4 words: Don't ever stay here.

The location is great, restaurant is just OK (although the beer was very cold), the marina's OK, but the "hotel" needs a complete demolition and rebuild from the ground up.

Just don't.

Room Tip: Not possible.

Despite the mediocre reviews, we booked a night at this hotel for its location close to the manatees. We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious the room was! While the hotel is dated, our room was very clean and we had a fantastic view of the marina. We were in the D building right above the dive shop (so cool!). The hotel staff was very friendly and the man in the dive shop was very knowledgeable about the area when we rented a kayak. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone on a budget or anyone looking to be close to the manatees. We will be back!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view - anything overlooking the marina is great. And don't bother eating a...

Hotel is run down, air conditioner is noisy but if you can get past that this place is otherwise awesome. On the water. Great restaurant on premises, Near where the manatees hang out at... Other than playing on the water there is no reason to leave after checking in. If all you are looking for is a place to put your head after playing with the manatees all day... This is the place for you. Many old hotels have mold.... Though this one is older and in need of renovation... Our room was not moldy... Since I am allergic I would have known.

I have never stayed in a place this bad--and I didn't. We checked in,looked at the room with trepidation, went for dinner at their restaurant. Ant like bugs in both drinks. The food was food--totally average. The room -door looked like it had been kicked in,plexiglass for windows, rusty fridge, cracked toilet seat, grundgy bath area, floor looked like it had never been cleaned. With my kid having problems with mold-no way we were taking a chance. They should bulldoze it and start over. Location is nice and that's it-Stayed at the Plantation-wonderful.

Room Tip: Just don't stay there---

The location of this hotel is PERFECT for swimming with the Manatees. It is right on the water and the view from our room was wonderful. There is a decent restaurant next to the hotel. We were able to walk from our room to the boat for the Manatee tour. So....location, location, location is the key. The room was basic and old but seemed clean. The front desk people were very nice.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view room
