I had the seafood platter, the salad was great but the blue cheeze dressing was very waterery and very few pieces of cheeze. The oysters were good, scallops good and shrimp good. The grouper was very dry and I think overcooked. The crab cake was a waste, I didn't eat it.

We make it a point to eat at Charley's at least once every time we come down to visit our elderly relatives who live near there. The fish is very fresh and the stone crabs are out of this world. The portion is huge and the price isn't. The same meal in Miami Beach would break the bank! An added bonus: a pelican might just decide to perch on the deck right outside your window.

Ate ther, shrimp was tuff. They made more shrimp but lightly battered (not the problem shrimp was tuff), didn't even look apetizing so sent it back. At that point didn't want anything. Can't believe they charged me for my salad $2.95 and the fries $1.25. Really upset about the whole deal. Drove from my home 45 miles just to eat there. My husbnds mullet was excellent.

I've rated this 4-stars, keeping in mind that this is a Family-Style restaurant, not fine dining. We were in Crystal River for business and Charlie's was right down the street. The parking lot was packed, always a good sign! We tried the Fried Sea Scallops and Broiled Grouper, both main courses were quite wonderful. The side dishes were not as good as the seafood, but we were there for the seafood! They serve a fish-style creamy cole slaw (we would've preferred traditional), an ordinary head lettuce tossed salad and an average Clam Chowder. The ambiance is family-style and relaxing. Our server was extremely attentive, friendly and helpful. Prices were quite reasonable. If we had a similar restaurant near home we would both eat there regularly.
