We took a 10am tour late in Nov. we (me and my six yr old) arrived around 9:20. The receptionist was polite and helpful in sizing the wet suits. (she later told me the other front desk lady had been let go b/c of rudeness and all the negative tripadvisor comments).
There were six people total in our tour. We dressed then watched a couple short videos on procedures and laws.
Capt Laura, a marine biologist, was our guide and boat driver. It was obvious she had lots of manatee experience. She was very friendly to my excited six year old. She explained how to enter/exit the boat and how the water would briefly be cold. She took us quickly to a large group of manatees.
We got in the water and the real fun began. We saw hundreds of manatees! Capt Laura said in her years of guiding she had never had a day like that. Obviously the company can't control those types circumstances, but we were grateful she knew right where to go. We were in the water quite a while. I didn't feel rushed at all. We had face to face / touching encounters with several manatees. Capt Laura even took some pics and video for us. Then we headed up the river and found a ton of sleeping manatees. Again we stayed there and didn't feel rushed at all. We finally made it back to the office right around 1pm. We had a full 3hrs on the water.
They had water and snacks available on the boat for free.
The tour was very reasonably priced for such a specialized unique wildlife experience.
I cannot give this company enough stars. They were fantastic!
