“Three Sisters is a "MUST DO"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

This was our second time back, despite 39 degree air temps the first time. Keep in mind the water stays at 72 degrees year-round, so staying in the water as long as possible is a must when its cold. The math is easy - its warmer in the water than out!

This past December (2013), it was in the 50's in the early morning - very comfortable. The boats are equipped to keep you warm, and they (Bird's) serve hot coffee and hot chocolate on an enclosed boat. By the end of the trip, it was very comfortable out of the water, as the air temps were rising naturally.

Make sure you get up for the early 'Bird's" trip - they put you on the water and near the manatees just after sunrise. Your the first one's there. It's an awesome experience.

Also Don't miss the Three Sisters spring - its a must see. The visibility is world class and the manatees love to hang out when the water in the Gulf is cold. Keep in mind the traffic can be busy during the Christmas vacation. Try and schedule a week-day.

“Manatee were plentiful.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014

We had a wonderful snorkeling trip here! We went in early December and to my surprise the springs were not crowded. There were a lot of spectators but not very many people in the water. There were many manatee though and they did not seem to be bothered at all by the swimmers. A few manatee even followed us around insisting on nibbling on our wet suites and peering into our masks. We had a wonderful time and shot a lot of footage and photos. I recommended this trip to everyone, young and old alike.

“beautiful area to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

Three sisters springs is a beautiful spot to see manatees. After swimming & enjoying the water you can visit the Homosassa wildlife park. Canoeing, smorkeling & scuba diving are also popular here. There are a couple more springs here & a cave to visit also. It's a quiet area to enjoy nature. You'll find more mom & pop stores than big retail business stores.

“Three Sisters Springs”

This place is beautiful. I highly recommend seeing it. You can take a tour boat or personal power boat, but you need to either swim/snorkel in or canoe/kayak in. We took our canoe on it's first adventure. Launching at Hunter Springs Park, it is a 30 minute paddle to Three Sisters. We passed about 30 Manatee under and around us, but none in the springs. We went on a Thursday morning and there was no one around!!!! The Manatee would breech in front of us and then sink back down as we passed and fish were jumping out of the water all around us!!! Pretty neat!!! When we got back to Hunter Springs Park we went in for a swim after loading the canoe. All in all a great experience!!!

We actually visited the springs twice on our recent vacation. The first time we rented kayaks and paddled into the springs and swam for a while. It was on the weekend and the place was packed with boats, boards and people. Nonetheless we saw a mama manatee with her baby in the canal outside the springs.

The second time we rented standup paddleboards from Manatee Paddles and came in from the bay. We also saw a manatee while paddling in from the bay towards the springs. Didn't do much swimming the second day and it was still busy, but much less crowded.

Will definitely go back to visit Three Sisters Springs if I get the opportunity. Beautiful place and the wildlife is incredible!
