Now I know why this was one of the only local motel/hotels in the area that had a room during scalloping season!! The Crystal Manatee web site is a total, outright lie!! The outside appearance (minus all the down on your luck vagrants who occupy the other suites) has a great location. That is the ONLY plus. The web site boast of, "Newly renovated rooms with flat screen TV's ...lie #1 and lie #2. The room and décor was circa 1972 complete with an old school scratchy bed-spread(a king-sized one to fit a full-sized bed) that probably has not been laundered since 1972(I ended up covering myself with my beach towel for fear of scabies!!) The flat screen TV...not only was that not there, but there was no remote as well. The bathroom had a cracked vanity mirror and the shower stall was so small that I couldn't bend over to shave my legs! Oh and...maid service only 2 days per week!!! Guess that did not include the Saturday and Sunday night we spent! Needless to say, no fresh towels, no turndowns, and DEFINITELY no mints on your pillow! The web site boasts of on site vending including an ice-machine which would be ideal for filling up coolers. Upon check-in I had trouble locating the ice-bucket so I walked to the vending area thinking they may be stacked there...wrong again. No ice bucket and no ice machine!!! I am really not sure what goes on behind the doors of those suites, nor do I think I want to know, the guests were scary in an escape convict kinda way. I definitely learned my lesson...if I do go back to Crystal River I will book in enough time to stay a block away at the Best Western!

Room tip: Book at the Best Western or Holiday INN!!!!

Stayed here for a night earlier this month. Great location and very handy for seeing all the attractions in Crystal River. Free fast wifi and well equipped kitchen ( not that we got to use it on our single night ). Nice quiet area and lovely big tree covered in Spanish moss outside.

this was our second year at crystal manatee and it was great. the location is 2 blocks from the springs and 1 block from kings bay. There is so much that you can do. the wildlife park, art shows, indian arachoage grounds, boat rides, fairs, flea markets, and shopping all close by to crystal manatee. The employees make you feel welcome and they also chat with you. They try to make sure that your stay is fun. Lots to do in a small town. Also the fun sitting under the tree and taking pictures of the cardnials in the yard. Will be back next year.

After two weeks of searching places/prices for my annual get-away, THE CRYSTAL MANATEE Suites was the best decision I could have made! No more LaQuinta high prices (not to mention charging extra for a little frig and micro). I enjoyed a full kitchen (full size frig/freezer, stove/oven, dishes/cookware/flatware), spacious table to do my scrapbooking at, free wifi, plenty of cable channels, good a/c, well lit bathroom.....all the comforts of home! So, for this year's one week get-away, I stayed for 3 weeks....and, can hardly wait to go back!!! I consider The Crystal Manatee my home away from home.

To make things even better, John (manager) was always just a phone call away and very accomodating. He has an excellent, friendly staff as well, that make sure you're happy, and are a joy to talk with.

A five minute walk took me to King's Bay, where a friendly manatee seemed to enjoy posing for pictures. Quaint Old Florida homes, parks, and water inlets everwhere, made for enjoyable walking. In the heart of Downtown Crystal River, you can be at restaurants, shopping, Chamber of Commerce, indoor flea market, churches, and more, within minutes on those walks. Just a short drive will take you to plenty of stores, banks, eateries, or just about anything else you could need. And the people are sooooo friendly!

If you love nature, southern hospitality, and have an appreciation for that quaint Old Florida feel, Crystal Manatee Suites is Sweet! Thanks, John and staff!!!

only stayed 2 nights as planned - room was spacious and well equipped but definitely in need of updating. But it all worked and clean. Only downside was the previous occupant(s) who must have been heavy smokers due to the smell, Quiet area a couple of minutes from Kings Bay. Very convenient for manatee tours especially for 06:15 starts! Chambermaid (sorry we forgot your name) was very helpful. Would certainly go back. Excellent value for money.
