Would it be disloyal to say the biscuits and gravy are as delicious as my Southern mother's? The dish is absolutely delicious, with a bit of a kick to it. I saw flakes of red pepper - not too much, but enough to give it a kick. It is a bit spicy if your tummy is sensitive. I ordered the full size which is two bisquits smothered with lots of gravy. Gave half to my spouse who loaded it onto his home fries. He always orders the eggs over medium with home fries and sour dough toast. He loves it. The only thing that would make it better is if the put a few onions in the home fries! The oatmeal is also real, cooked oatmeal and is very good too. Not gooey or tasteless like many restaurants serve. It is served with brown sugar and raisins.
Locally owned and operated, "Sam," the owner is frequently present, the staff have been there for ages, we always visit several times when we are in Cortez - usually once a year. Have only had breakfast here, but I expect lunch would be delicious too.
The Cafe is open 7 days a week, 6am - 2:30. They keep the coffee flowing, all servers work together and it is a friendly, although rather small place, obviously very popular with the regulars. the counter has only 3 seats, although there are tables for 2, a table for 6 and a table for 8. Several booths and tables for 4.
Don't miss it if you are in the general vicinity!

Definately NOT disloyal as it is MY Tennessee Mama's recipe! Thank You for your great review and next time try the Grits another gift from the south!
