“Hot, fresh, affordable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013 via mobile

We popped in for breakfast with the family and the menu had enough variety for everyone. Service was quick, food was hot and delicious. Prices were decent, great breakfast stop!

“Biscuits and gravy like mama made!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Would it be disloyal to say the biscuits and gravy are as delicious as my Southern mother's? The dish is absolutely delicious, with a bit of a kick to it. I saw flakes of red pepper - not too much, but enough to give it a kick. It is a bit spicy if your tummy is sensitive. I ordered the full size which is two bisquits smothered with lots of gravy. Gave half to my spouse who loaded it onto his home fries. He always orders the eggs over medium with home fries and sour dough toast. He loves it. The only thing that would make it better is if the put a few onions in the home fries! The oatmeal is also real, cooked oatmeal and is very good too. Not gooey or tasteless like many restaurants serve. It is served with brown sugar and raisins.
Locally owned and operated, "Sam," the owner is frequently present, the staff have been there for ages, we always visit several times when we are in Cortez - usually once a year. Have only had breakfast here, but I expect lunch would be delicious too.
The Cafe is open 7 days a week, 6am - 2:30. They keep the coffee flowing, all servers work together and it is a friendly, although rather small place, obviously very popular with the regulars. the counter has only 3 seats, although there are tables for 2, a table for 6 and a table for 8. Several booths and tables for 4.
Don't miss it if you are in the general vicinity!

Definately NOT disloyal as it is MY Tennessee Mama's recipe! Thank You for your great review and next time try the Grits another gift from the south!

“Always a delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

The food is consistently wonderful. What a fantastic restaraunt. The staff- Sam, Alex, John, Chelsea make it a joy to come in.Hard to choose a favorite but if I have to choose, mine would be the lemon orzo soup or the pork roast and ny husbands's would be the Italian sausage hoagie or the Cortez burger. We visit almost every day and feel like we are family. WONDERFUL!

5 Stars!! Woo Hoo! Thank You! We love when people happen by and find us, then became part of our restaurant family. I love the lemon orzo soup too, its a taste of home for Sam, his Mom's recipe. All of our servers love to see their names in print so you have made our day.

“Best Breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

Hands down, the best breakfast in the whole area! Great service and the prices are right. If you have to wait a bit for a table, do it. Absolutely worth it! Their lunch menu is really good too. Expecially their chef's salad and club sandwiches.
