Description: Remember when Matt Dillon was eavesdropping on Cameron Diaz in the movie "There's Something About Mary"? They were at Red Fish Grill. And what a location! Whether dining outside under the Palms at the edge of Biscayne Bay or in the historic coral stone dining room, this restaurant is like nowhere else. It's a slice of Florida that disappeared long ago in most parts of Miami. But it's a lot more than atmosphere that brings in the locals and notables. The menu is dedicated to fresh local seafood, cooked with a gourmet twist, sometimes Caribbean... sometimes Asian. Best bets: Fennel Seared Yellowfin Tuna on Crispy Wonton, Crab Cakes with Tropical Melon Slaw, Red Snapper with Shaved Red Onion Fennel Salad, Herb Crusted Sea Bass with White Bean Ragout, homemade Key Lime Pie and Caramel Flan with Toasted Coconut. And a wine list that's reasonable and varied. Please visit our website for further details.

“Beautiful Views, Great food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013

Well worth going here. It's got a great atmosphere, specially if you sit outside to eat. Great wine, good choices on the menu. The skirt steak is great, and so is the fish!

At night the view is fantastic, because its in Matheson Hammock Park, you have the rarity of a lot of "space" around you. This gives the feeling of unencumbered dinning, in a secluded tropical spot.

I believe these are the same owners that run Christies Steak House in Coral Gables.

Give it a try and let me know...

“Worth the drive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

Red Fish is a great meal and a nice experience. My colleague has been eating there for years and raving about it. It lived up to the hype. It's a bit of an experience getting there if you're not familiar with the area but it's worth it. We ate outside (along with everyone else) on a Wednesday evening. We enjoyed the palm trees, the breeze, and the view of the water. The soup and mussels that we had as starters were excellent. Our fish dishes were prepared perfectly. It is expensive here but worth if you know that going in.

“Hard to find at night, but worth the effort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

This place was difficult to find at night- even with GPS. The signs are small and the road is dark. The restaurant is inside a park so you have to drive down a dark, deserted road to find it, but it is worth the effort. Great ambiance. We sat outside under a canopy with lots of small lights. It was very romantic. The food was delicious! I had the red snapper and my husband had the tuna and we both cleaned our plates. It would be lovely to go around dusk and walk around the lake after dinner.

“DIssapointed.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

Summary: too expensive.

The only thing this place has going for is the scenic view, which is the beach, water, etc.

Been there done that.

“Beautiful setting and good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

It was a tad pricey but a lovely meal far away from the "Miami scene". Lovely location and very good food. The fish is super fresh and the wait staff attentive and knowledgeable.
