“Very French”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

The place is unassuming. The food is excellent and the prices are on the high side. We had the soup of the day. Cream of celery and apple and it was excellent. We had the duck and the filet mignon and both were very good. The place is open for dinner only Thursday and Friday and for lunch from Monday to Friday. Reservations for dinner are a must. The place gets packed with local Coral Gables residents. Parking is on the streets so have change for the parking meter.

“The owners need to be careful not to lower their standards.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012 via mobile

We called ahaead for a Friday 1 30 pm lunch and were advised to arrive later in order to get a table and avoid the rush of patrons etc. We did and arrived after two pm. The three of us were seated promptly,at the last table in the back right by the hallway to what may be the restrooms.
To our surprise and disappointment, none of our first choices were available, nor were our second or, for one of us, our third. The restaurant was all out of them.
When we finally settled our enthusiasm was dampened as our host's attitude was "it is what it is" with no apology. Maybe that's the way it happens there but that's not good if it happens more often than not, which is the impression I got.
When the food arrived it came out in spotty intervals. Two of us began to eat as the other waited. My soup arrived after everything else at the table. The restaurant was not packed nor were we in the middle of a "rush" lunch time.
The onion soup was good, though not at the level the recent food critic's review had raved. Escargot were tasty and soft yet I had to ask for bread as no one had checked to see if our bread basket needed replenishing. My companions were not excited by their choices- mostly salad items as their initial choices- quite a few-of the more popular dishes- were unavailable. My third choices, though not what I had gone there to eat, were good except that the "frites", allegedly home made french fries which had been highly praised in the critic's review, were nicely fried but could have been mistaken for a high-end frozen brand. They were definitely not the perfectly cut and puffed frites many of us are used to and which we expected to find.
We also noted that our server/host was subtly insistent on our ordering wine, and asked more than once, even after only of us ordered. We wish he had been as vigilant on other matters, especially having enough bread (quite good bread) at our table and other little details he missed.
My lunch companions said they won't go back but I will try them one more time, hopefully they will do a much better job of planning and coordinating their menu and not run out of the dishes they should know will be ordered by eager patrons. Obviously the items they run out of are patrons' favorites and they need to plan accordingly.
I hope that this little special place does not lose it's way, as many before them have after a few months of opening to stellar reviews.
Overall,we were disappointed. There is bad planning going on especially if they run out of their top items on a Friday at 2pm when the lunch time is still going strong- in an area of the city tightly packed with excellent high-end and experienced restaurants.
I must say, the chocolate mousse was good but portions were small. Prices overall are high and at the same level of nearby high-end restaurants.
Please give them a chance though.I will go back.

“Great little French Bistro!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

Owners were right there working and vsiting with patrons. Generous portions and attentive service. Food was very good. Informal decor with butcher paper on tables. Well worth a visit!

“Awesome find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

Did not expect this little gem in the middle of a random financial district. Very unassuming small bistro ish restaurant. We heard from friends how delicious the food was and how warm the service and atmosphere were and were not disappointed. The food was absolutely top notch, the service was charming, and we loved it. Even the desserts were all house made. Loved the caramel ice cream. Try it and become a believer

“Great new eatery in the Gables”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

I have eaten at this truly delicious restaurant three times and have not been served a bad meal. Every attention to detail is here from the owner greeting you at the door to the other owner serving excellent appetizer, soup, entree, desert. Everything is home made and all specials are crafted from ingredients delivered that day. For example, I ordered a fish sandwich and was given a perfectly cooked piece of yellowtail snapper. The owner told me that she receives the fish fresh everyday, and you can taste it. But, you better get there early because the special can run out.

Also, the decor is well thought out and unpretentious . In fact, everything about this unique place is unpretentious and unassuming. They let the food dictate the mood and the decor only provides the background for a wonderful experience. I will return and with many friends. By the way, they are only open from 11 to 4. But, they are going to have a price fix meal every Friday night starting Sept. 7.

I highly recommend this newest addition to the Coral Gables eating scene.
