“Exquisite stay in Trendy Area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

The Colonade is an old hotel in central Coral Gables. It's kept in pristine condition, the staff is very friendly and food is very good. Walking distance is full of shops, restaurants and park with local fare on weekends. Ample parking lot too.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have better view.

The Westin Colonnade at Coral Gables is a magnificent Hotel. When you enter you are surprised by a glorious escalator that takes you up to check in. I loved it, it was very dramatic. They do have and elevator if you prefer. Check in was great. It was easy and fast. One of the Concierge was there and he told us about a restaurant called LaDorada that was just a few blocks away. We ate there and it was one of the best restaurants we've ever eaten in. We were in room 234 and it was gorgeous. It was bigger than normal, and we had two french doors that exited to the outside where there was loads of beautiful white ourdoor furniture. There were beds with curtains, love seats and full size couches to enjoy and just relax out there. You could order drinks or meals out there. Beyond that was a gorgeous view of Coral Gables and a delightful pool. The bed in our room was so comfortable! It's also a wonderful location for anything you want to do in South Florida. We look forward to going back.

Room Tip: Mention if you'd like to have a room where you can exit onto a huge patio that over looks the ci...

I stayed here 1 night. I am Gold SPG member and have stayed at various Westin properties. This location is good with many choices for eating within walking distance. Staff was helpful. The room was big, standard heavenly bed. The pool area was a bit neglected and lots of used plates glaases left around. Jacuzzi not very hot. Average overall best thing is great location. Food at the restaurant bar was mediocre, much better choices both value and taste outside of hotel.

I booked this hotel through Hotwire, so I knew that I was getting an awesome deal on the price. We stayed there for two nights after our cruise out of Miami. As a family of 4, we were booked into a room with two double beds (not queen - yikes). The hotel is a little unusual as it was part of a bigger business complex. (this is actually a negative - more about that later). The lobby is actually on the second floor. If your room was on 2, it is actually on the third floor. The staff there were very friendly and helpful. Several times when my wife asked for restaurant recommendations, the front desk was extremely knowledgeable and gave excellent recommendations. The room we were in was very nice, comfortable and spacious. Our room is on 3 overlooking the rooftop pool and the beautiful and spacious sitting lounge area. We definitely enjoyed the swimming pool and lounge. The exercise room was well equipped as well. The surrounding area as filled with wonderful restaurants and shops all within walking distance on the Miracle Mile. Beware that parking is not owned by the Westin but rather by the business complex. You can expect to pay to pay over $20 with no in-out privileges. I would suggest getting the valet parking. Also, the parking is not connected to the hotel. You have to take the parking complex elevator to the outside and walk next door to the hotel entrance.
Overall, we had a great experience and would return in the future. The hotel does offer free wifi but only in the lobby area.

We stayed one night before our cruise out of Miami. The service and accommodations were excellent. We stayed in a two story townhouse room. It had flat screen tv's on both levels with excellent views and a comfortable bed. They have a rooftop pool that our room overlooked as there are actually two roof levels. The pool area was very large with the rooms on the northeast part helping block any wind. There were some great large sitting areas on that level with very nice views of the city. There was about every kind of restaurant within walking distance you could imagine, from Morton's, upscale Sushi, or fast food. There were nightlife clubs in walking distance as well. We didn't visit those but we had friends with us that were well satisfied. A nice workout room by the pool as well. We would stay again.

We were looking for an Starwood property to base our pre cruise tour of Miami from and this hotel served our purposes. Unfortunately, it was during St Patrick's Day festivities and the noise at night was horrible due to the street parties. I would avoid this location if there may be any sort of outdoor/late night bar activity going on. The front desk staff we encountered were excellent. One young man actually gave us a brief enthusiastic tour of the lobby area and vintage photos when I asked about the architecture and history of the building. And on departure an older man at the front desk apologized for the lost night's sleep (even though out of his control) and comped our breakfast. Very much appreciated. The breakfast (off the menu) and service was very good in the first floor restaurant, otherwise we ate at the many surrounding restaurants. We rented a car from two blocks away and parked in a nearby parking garage which was cheaper than the hotel lot. All other staff in the hallways and valet areas were friendly and helpful.

A nice hotel right in the middle of MIracle Mile. Convenient location for shopping and restaurants. Easy access to Miami. The rooms were nice but kind of dreary. The furniture was dark, bathroom was rundown, windows were old, and the carpet had stains. We also had a lot of problems trying to access the internet from our rooms. The hotel does provide free wireless in public spaces. The breakfast is overprices so if you're staying for an extended period of time, ask for a mini fridge, and then walk over to Safeway to fill it up!
