“Great spot for a very nice dinner in a casual serting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

The prime rib (offered on Sundays and Mondays) was outstanding (I can't believe I ate the whole thing). On Mondays the are a number of wines at half price - making wine from their list more affordable but with a fairly restrictive offering. The waitress was very pleasant and accommodating. Overall a very positive experience.

“A very good steak chain named after the football great, Don Shula”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

The Gables branch served very good, almost excellent, steakhouae style cuisine. I had a salmon dish that was tender and moist, happy to say. The steak eaters seemed happy, as did the veggie pasta eaters too. The environment is aptly "clubby" with leather style banquettes and dark wood accents. All in all, it offers a reliably very good time. The staff was very friendly and professional. And of course, the bar had requisite big screen TVs for the sports enthusiasts who love a steakhouse.

“Great Salmon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

We regularly arrange business lunches at Shula's. A classy business envirnment conveniently located in South Coral Gables near South Miami. Had dear friends from Ecuador in town yesterday for lunch. They were thoroughly impressed. He is a hotel general manager and knows food quality, service and ambience. Two had burgers, one had skirt steak and two of us had the salmon with steamed asparagus and carrots. If you like calamari, you haven't eaten calamari until you've had Shula's. Forget the skinny circles most places serve. Shula's is big, straight, fleshy, tasting awesome pieces of calamari. Nothing left on the plates.

“What is this Place?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

Is it a fine upscale steakhouse? Is it a family restaurant for kids? Is it a sports bar? Is it a party place? Its all three - making each unpleasant.
The good news - the food is pretty good and the service was great - but it is not cheap - figure an appetizer, entree, desert and coffee will run you about $50 pp. For that, you would expect some decent ambiance. But no - on one side of you are crying kids (they have a kid menu); crayons rolling around on the floor; in front of you is huge bar with TVs showing various sports events with a loud bar crowd and behind you is a party "area" (not enclosed for a private (loud) group. Add that this is just a reopened Bar (Jake's - which failed) and you get a TGI Fridays crowds with Shula's prices. It may be just the thing for some - but for elegant dining - no way.

“Casual atmosphere,good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

There are lots of nice choices from burgers, turkey burgers, spinach salad, other salads, steaks, sandwiches, etc. For appetizers, we shared spinach artichoke dip with corn chips which was tasty.
Service was pleasant and efficient. Place gets busy and noisy on a Friday night, so reservations are a must.
