“Fabulous Grand Duchess of a Hotel in Need of Some TLC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We loved staying at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. The room was so-so but the bed was comfortable. The pool is lovely, large and elegant. The service was a bit slow at the poolside bar but excellent in the restaurant. I left my scarf at the pool side bar but it was gone when I returned. Other than that, it was a great trip. The whole hotel needs updating and a big renovation.

Room Tip: We were on 5th floor on a Saturday eve, overlooking the interior of the hotel and it was loud due to...

Beautiful and historic. From a bygone era of elegance. But not really fun. Staid. Pricy. Best for golfers. You will definitely need a car. Nothing is nearby or walking distance. Without a car you are trapped in what is essentially a residential area. And the shops and dining available at the hotel are way too upscale for a casual visit or families. Even though I was there for a convention the rooms are not business-friendly. There was no desk or work area in the room for example. Free self-parking is available.

For full disclosure, my wife and I are members of the Biltmore Club, aka the fitness center, so we are very familiar with the hotel and armed with higher expectations from the hotel. We were staying there after hosting a large dinner at the Palme d'Or - best French restaurant in South Florida hands down. In order to make our job easier, we booked a room at the hotel, which is usually only for hurricane days or special occasions. Further detail, we did not ask for special treatment given that we took over the restaurant.

We were greeted with a kind and professional staff. The room was perfect and romantic overlooking the north with a balcony. We did not spend much time in the room other than sleeping and coffee in the morning but as a seasoned travelers and repeat hurricane customers, the hotel remains 5 stars. Check out was again professional and the bellboy staff superior.

Kudos to Mr Prescott for keeping a Coral Gables institution a premier destination.

I attended a conference at the Biltmore and found it to be in dire need of renovation. The guest rooms are relatively small )at least the one I stayed in on the 5th floor overlooking the Hotel entrance), the bathroom is old-fashioned with no separate shower, and the air conditioning vent continues to hum quite loudly even when the thing is shut off. The television is small and old, while the conference facilities are large but also in need of refurbishment. Although there was free (slow) WiFi in the room, the rest of the hotel's meeting spaces require additional payment even for participants.

What is there to say that hasn't been said about the Biltmore? It's pure elegance. The restaurant is incredible although the morning breakfast buffet leaves a little to be desired but the ambiance when you sit in the courtyard in unmatched. You feel like your sitting in a beautiful mediterranean courtyard surrounded by he who's who of the world. Even if you don't stay at the Biltmore stop in for breakfast or lunch and simply savor the experience.

Green Features: The hotel is a great friend of the environment as well which a extraordinary.

The hotel is a Grand Dame. Mosaics, towers, marble, antiquities. Something old and historic in Florida is always awesome.
The brunch on Sunday is a once in a lifetime affair. The clientele: let's just say we aren't in Wisconsin anymore. Exquisite. Besides the food and champagne, there are guys in tuxedos playing piano, flamenco singers and Spanish guitarist hiding in the shadows of royal palm leaves in a gorgeous courtyard. It is a world class brunch: reservations suggested.
The hotel is old and must cost a fortune to keep up. I refuse to nitpick about any little imperfection. I could walk into any home in America and nitpick the hell out of a house, or home cooked meal. No matter how perfect. Likewise with hotel or restaraunt.
The Biltmore has ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen. You feel like you are SOMEBODY as a guest at this classic hotel.
Good location for fans of Key Biscayne tennis open, key biscayne beaches and activities.
If you don't need to be on Miami Beach and you want something less boutique or new, step back in time and feel part of history, to the Biltmore, where guests matter, and you are reminded that beauty and service to others transcends time. Biltmore.

This is a gorgeous hotel in Coral Gables, built in 1926 in a Mediterranean style with very interesting history. The pool is 150 x 225, the largest hotel pool in North America - just stunning! Food was great in all restaurants and room service was like eating in a restaurant. Step out of the hotel right on to the golf course. Impeccable service, by friendly, efficient staff who go above and beyond. Look forward to visiting again!

Room Tip: ask for "resort view" on a higher floor for the best view of pool and golf course
