“Tired, and less than welcoming”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

This is our second, and last, stay at the Biltmore. We love Coral Gables, and we love the Biltmore pool, especially as they have now started heating the water. However, we can no longer overlook the small rooms and the old fashioned and tired bathrooms. This morning, however, we were unable to get breakfast anywhere inside in the hotel, and the waitress in the 19th hole restaurant on the golf course was incredibly rude.
Apparently they serve brunch on a Sunday in the main breakfast restaurant. This means they close a part of the restaurant, as it is already set up for brunch. If a hotel would rather leave it's residents without breakfast, than change some table settings later it is not classy enough for us.

Room Tip: You need to pay top dollar to get space.

We visited this hotel on the last day in Maimi ( noted we were not residents) the history, architecture, sweeping lawns and regal appearance attracted us to it. We had an excellent businessmans lunch in the atrium . The food and service was great. I would like to return and stay but it is located in Coral gables outside Miami and it is unlikely that I would do so on business. It is probably best suited to those seeking a weeken break with a Spa.

This beautiful old hotel is very South Florida. A friendly, multi-language staff does everything possible to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Incredible pool and gym. Spa is also incredible for both men and women. Highly recommend if you want to be pampered.

There are few hotel properties as beautiful or as well-preserved as this one. The details and the architecture are simply sublime. I had a junoir suite (a happy upgrade upon check-in), which was lovely. Wonderful bed, amenities, all lovely. Why only 4 stars? Two reasons. First, my room featured only a dining-room chair as a desk chair for the work-station which was awful, terrible. This is not a hotel for the business traveler that needs to spend time working at the in-room desk. y back still hurts.
Second: The fees and prices for services. Mandatory $22 a night resort fee for internet and other amenities (partial gratuities they claim). $8.00 for a bottle of water. Breakfast for under $30 was impossible. A glass of wine was at least $15 plus tips and taxes. When you are at the hotel you are at their mercy. It is too far from anywhere to get relief from their extortion unless you have a car.
This is NOT a business travelers hotel. Go for the amazing architecture and landscaping, play golf, and be willing to spend a LOT of $$$ doing so!

Enjoyed my experience here, the spa is fantastic and highly professional with great attention to detail and care. The pools are clean and rooms were fit for purpose. Staff were polite and professional with no trouble attitude I found. Yes little noisy here and there, however with set of head phones on and relax beside the pool who cares! The place is big enough for you to move around and with the number of rooms there I am sure the hotel could accommodate the most pedantic guest! Perfect for those with real money and do not wish to be centre of attention. If you want centre of attention there are 2 bird cages in the main entrance im sure there is room for one more! Great place to people watch!

The property is stunning. I guess I get amazed/frustrated/disappointed at these high end joints when you pay so much that they try get you on the small stuff. I am currently checked in. They hit you with a $22 resort fee. Resort fee??? What's the tariff for? I have no requirement for wifi which is what basically is and the other list of arbitrary items. They don't let you opt out. I have my own data plans.

One would assume there would be a separate shower and toilet with a door as there are at most better hotels. I am in what they call a junior suite. More like its a suite for junior.

You can't order a drink at pool after 5. They let the waiters go. There is no jacuzzi at the pool. An easy add on.

At around $400/night all in I hope I was ticked off that the barman wanted to charge me $3.25 plus taxes etc for a small cup of milk to take to my room to make coffee. I get that they are the business selling stuff but some give and take is also expected. A few pennies of milk should not be an issue. Especially after what I spent at the pool so far.

Wonderful place. Glad I am here but do not appreciate some of the things they do. It's unbecoming.

We rang in the year at the Fontana Restaurant at the Biltmore. We had a very tasty and a well executed meal. Service was not bad but neither very good. This restaurant serves as the Cafeteria for the Hotel, maybe that's the reason for a service not really in par with the sophistication of the hotel and the setting as a whole. Loud kitchen noises, and a strong kitchen smell, coming from the open prep counter, permeated the restaurant. Also, I never understood why if a restaurant is not full, they insist on sitting you at the worst located table of the restaurant... we had to insist to be moved.
Fireworks at the hotel at midnight were magnificent. Unfortunately we could not toast at midnight with a glass of champagne because the hotel decided to close the bar at the golf course around 10 pm...
