“Lots of fun history here!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

We stayed here for a wedding venue. The hotel was great. The pool is the largest of any in USA so it provided lots of spots to meet up with our friends. 19th Hole restaurant was our favorite for breakfast and lunch. Staff were so helpful imparting historical info... 13th floor, Al Capone, WWII hospital, etc. What fun. The grounds are lovely. My only complaint was humidity at this time of year! Being a Bostonian, it was a bit difficult to deal with. I have no complaints about the hotel, but wish it was closer to the beach.

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking golf course or one with balcony.

The Biltmore is a designated National Historic Landmark property known for its rustic Mediterranean charm, which is usually warmly embraced by our guests. We’re delighted your stay with us was enjoyable.

My wife and two daughters have just returned from an absolutely delightful 5 night stay at the Biltmore. We are pretty fussy and have high standards. I also believe you get what you pay for up to a point, thereafter you pay for a name/brand.

In every respect the Biltmore ticks our boxes. The food is superb and beautifully presented. The rooms (we had two) are more than adequately sized, well decorated, clean and furnished in keeping with the property.

The pool is fabulous, 73 metres long (I think) and the water just at the right temperature. Cleaned daily and during the day by the attentive pool side staff. The sun loungers are of excellent quality, plenty of towels, umbrellas etc etc.

The golf course is well cared for and a pleasure to play, even though I left a couple of balls in the water protecting one of the greens!

The gym is very well appointed, the Spa superb (according to my wife), the harpist playing at high tea time a lovely touch.

The building itself is amazing, a real cross of architecture and such is the charm that you can feel equally at home wandering around in casual clothing as well as dressed to the nines.

As for the staff, well for us nothing was too much trouble for them. Courteous, polite, on hand, exactly what you would want without being fawned over.

I really could go on and on, I honestly could not fault the place or the people working there. I would go back there without a second thought, and certainly hope to next year.

First the hotel is BEAUTIFUL.... the architecture, the details the decorating is just beautiful. Location is approx. 20 minutes from Miami airport and 15 minutes to a major mall and downtown Coral Gables area with lots of restaurants and shops. Miami is about 20- 30 minutes away

The double room we stayed in had a small balcony overlooking the fountain, gardens and golf course. Could not have asked for a nicer, more comfortable room. Firm, comfortable beds, nice quality sheets. Living room area with sofa and chair, separate work space perfect for laptop work and later on for serving drinks/ snacks. Nicely appointed bathroom with plush robes and top quality soaps, shampoos. Requested no feather/ down and had no problems.

Everyone in the hotel was super friendly, eager to help. Pool was wonderful- big, not crowded and tons of chairs. Food and drinks around pool were good, not outrageously priced. Spa is decadent- indulged in a 70 minute massage and was very happy. ($99 summer special price- would not go if I had to pay full $220 price) The room price is reasonable-- especially compared to Miami-- but the mini fridge is pricey. Bring your own snacks & beverages. Liked that tax and tips were included in prices

This was a business trip for husband and a mini vacation for me....Will definitely return

My first impression was that I felt a little out of place driving up to the property.

There were 2 1950s era Rolls Royces on the road, one I front, one in back. Plus there were people in the hotel lobby all in formal attire... And me in a T-shirt and shorts. It was little like stepping into a Humphrey Bogart movie fully expecting to see him hanging out at the bar.

Once things got settled I found the staff was extremely courteous. These people make the Biltmore. At no time after I arrived did I feel as if they were not old friends of mine that I just haven't seen in a long time.

My room was clean and it didn't have an old smell to it that some hotels tend to have. It was a overlooking the front of the hotel and in the distance I could see downtown. My only regret is that I didn't have enough time to see the entire property, but I definitely will return.

This was our 2nd stay at the Biltmore as our daughter is a freshman at U Miami. We can not say enough about the staff at the Biltmore. From Juan at the pool bar to Desiree & Lisa at the Cellar Bar, everyone seems to go out of their way to make sure they meet all your needs. On a previous visit, we has a terrible dinner experience at Fontana, after mentioning it to Juan (pool bar) he immediately called the Predrag Starcevoc restaurant manager who came to talk with us. He graciously listened to our story and asked that we give Fontana another try as they had changed their Chef as for the poor service, he believed that it was a fluke. He proceeded to give us his card and assure us that that it would be a different experience and it was. My husband, daughter and I all agreed the evening was on the top of our list for dinning experiences. The hotel is older but the history and the charm far out way any negatives. We are planning on returning in October for parents weekend and will be staying here for many weekend for the next four years.

Room Tip: Our first stay we were on the floor below the spa & heard noise all night long as they buffed th...

This property aspires to old-world charm, but it's only achieves old world and misses the mark on charm. The rooms are expensive, small, and dated. I couldn't figure out how to moderate the air conditioning without shutting it off altogether. I needed to do some computer work while at the hotel, but the only thing that passed for a desk was a strange rickety drawer that pulled out from a wall unit. A request for delayed checkout by a few hours resulted in a half-day surcharge. Even after paying the surcharge the poolside staff refused to allow charges to the room. All in all, an average experience at best. Next time I'm in the Miami area I'm pretty sure I'll be staying elsewhere.

Gorgeous, charming location in Coral Gables set back in a residential area! Steeped in history and filled with touches of a time past beginning in the late 1920's. Our first visit...and not the last. We are regular travelers with a preference for great service, location and surroundings. This was a wonderful choice!

The highlights...large, spacious guest rooms, comfortable beds with luxurious sheets, spacious bathrooms, mini bar, safe, big screen TV. Multiple dining options depending on the day of the week, fantastic work out facility, gorgeous swimming pool that is large (and I do mean LARGE),PLENTY of towels at the pool which is wonderful, plus free wi-fi (this is a BIG deal in an upscale hotel), 24 hour room service, beautiful spa and a spectacular golf course. We enjoyed restaurant dining in Fontana multiple times and loved the outdoor bar area with tables around the pool for breakfast in the morning. (Restaurants will be reviewed separately under their given names). It was lovely to hear the harp player during high tea and view the birds in their gorgeous bird cages in the front lobby. Several shops were on the lower level with a nice choice of just a few upscale amenities one would expect to find in a hotel of this caliber.

Lowlights...initially upon entering the guest room is an "old" odor...we actually adjusted to this and it really smelled like your Grandmother's house...accurate for a hotel of this age. There is NO storage in the bathroom...limited counter space and extra towels were even kept over in the closet. Perhaps installation of some cabinets under the sinks would be useful. No in room coffee maker...something my husband and I really enjoy and missed. The air conditioning had difficulty keeping up with the fluctuations in temps outside due to high humidity, rain and then blazing heat. We were ok with this but some guests may be frustrated with trying to keep their rooms cool enough. While the pool area is gorgeous, a hottub would be a delightful addition tucked back in one of the cozy corners outside. Poolside seating can be an issue as we observed on one day of our trip...the chairs were simply all full which proved to be frustrating for some guests hoping to relax on a lounge. Also notably absent was a service elevator for the staff. We passed staff members with various necessities for housekeeping, maintenance, etc., waiting patiently for elevators while guests used them. It just seems in this day and age that an elevator for things such as this should be a necessity in a large, upscale hotel such as The Biltmore.

Almost every staff member we ran into or dealt with was completely delightful. Standouts were the Manager of Fontana, Mary our server in Fontana and the wonderful new Chef! A completely delightful stay and we will be back!

Room Tip: May be nice to request a room with a view. This was our first stay and the view from our window was...

We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. Also, please know that many of the suggestions you have made are ones we would seek to implement ourselves; from an architectural perspective, we are limited in the scope of improvements or additions that can be made to the property, given our status as a National Historical Landmark.
