“Beautiful Piece of History!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

Gorgeous, charming location in Coral Gables set back in a residential area! Steeped in history and filled with touches of a time past beginning in the late 1920's. Our first visit...and not the last. We are regular travelers with a preference for great service, location and surroundings. This was a wonderful choice!

The highlights...large, spacious guest rooms, comfortable beds with luxurious sheets, spacious bathrooms, mini bar, safe, big screen TV. Multiple dining options depending on the day of the week, fantastic work out facility, gorgeous swimming pool that is large (and I do mean LARGE),PLENTY of towels at the pool which is wonderful, plus free wi-fi (this is a BIG deal in an upscale hotel), 24 hour room service, beautiful spa and a spectacular golf course. We enjoyed restaurant dining in Fontana multiple times and loved the outdoor bar area with tables around the pool for breakfast in the morning. (Restaurants will be reviewed separately under their given names). It was lovely to hear the harp player during high tea and view the birds in their gorgeous bird cages in the front lobby. Several shops were on the lower level with a nice choice of just a few upscale amenities one would expect to find in a hotel of this caliber.

Lowlights...initially upon entering the guest room is an "old" odor...we actually adjusted to this and it really smelled like your Grandmother's house...accurate for a hotel of this age. There is NO storage in the bathroom...limited counter space and extra towels were even kept over in the closet. Perhaps installation of some cabinets under the sinks would be useful. No in room coffee maker...something my husband and I really enjoy and missed. The air conditioning had difficulty keeping up with the fluctuations in temps outside due to high humidity, rain and then blazing heat. We were ok with this but some guests may be frustrated with trying to keep their rooms cool enough. While the pool area is gorgeous, a hottub would be a delightful addition tucked back in one of the cozy corners outside. Poolside seating can be an issue as we observed on one day of our trip...the chairs were simply all full which proved to be frustrating for some guests hoping to relax on a lounge. Also notably absent was a service elevator for the staff. We passed staff members with various necessities for housekeeping, maintenance, etc., waiting patiently for elevators while guests used them. It just seems in this day and age that an elevator for things such as this should be a necessity in a large, upscale hotel such as The Biltmore.

Almost every staff member we ran into or dealt with was completely delightful. Standouts were the Manager of Fontana, Mary our server in Fontana and the wonderful new Chef! A completely delightful stay and we will be back!

Room Tip: May be nice to request a room with a view. This was our first stay and the view from our window was...

As a world-class luxury destination resort, The Biltmore enjoys a stellar reputation for professionalism, services and quality of product within the industry. We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. Also, please know that many of the suggestions you have made are ones we would seek to implement ourselves; from an architectural perspective, we are limited in the scope of improvements or additions that can be made to the property, given our status as a National Historical Landmark.

I stayed for 3 days at this fantastic Hotel for business purpose. I had the opportunity to get into the enormous pool and the chance to play golf on a wonderful course on Saturday morning. The room are spacious and very comfortable.

Room Tip: Choose a pool room. The ones to the back of the Hotel are noisy.

I stayed at the hotel for two nights and barely slept. The first night I was too hot. You have to put the air down at least 14 degrees less than what you want it to be. Second night was so noisy. Banging, vacuuming, creaks very early in the morning. I slept maybe 2 hours. Was so tired I couldn't even enjoy the facilities (which you pay for each night.) When I let management know they just said, we'll check the tapes to find out what was going on. No discount. No refunding of amenity fee. Not even an offer for free coffee, which they charge 5 dollars for. (No coffee makers in the room.) I had to drive an hour home on no sleep. This place is pretty but it's overrated and way to expensive. Good luck sleeping if you are noise sensitive like me. Majorly disappointed as this weekend was supposed to be a treat.

We regret that your stay failed to meet your expectations with regards to noise disruption to your sleep - that is the antithesis of the comfortable, relaxing, luxurious kind of stay we strive to provide for our valued guests, and for which we are known. We would welcome the opportunity to address these issues with you directly, and would much appreciate your contacting the Managing Director's office directly, as we cannot deduce your name on the basis of your e-mail address alone.

What a beautiful spot! I live in this town, but occasionally stay here for functions. I also frequent the day spa and pool restaurant. The pool is reported to be the largest in the continental US. t It is a true tropical oasis in the middle of Dade County and Coral Gables.
If you want to avoid the hustle of South Beach, but remain within an easy driving distance for a day at the beach or an evening of fine dining, this is an excellent alternative. I love this property and it's historical significance to our community.

We like to describe The Biltmore as “a bit of Paradise away from the hustle and bustle of busy Miami”. It’s always a pleasure to hear from guests who are local visitors and who have such a special connection with The Biltmore, as all of us here do. Thank you for taking the time to share your impressions with us.

One of my clients hosted a 500 person conference at the Biltmore and from a logistical perspective, it was a nightmare. The event staff was clueless and non-responsive to my client's requests. It was very frustrating and reflected poorly on my client. My $500/night staying room was so basic that it didn't even have a desk and many of the electrical outlets were not working. I had to use the ironing board as a desk...unexceptable for a luxury hotel. The only good thing about this hotel is that the lobby, courtyard and pool are beautiful.

Room Tip: Do not waste your money here

I have stayed at the Biltmore several times and again this week. It is located in a more residential area of Coral Gables with tempting leisure activities included, so it is better suited for leisure or corporate events than a straight and simple business overnighter. The facilities are expansive and beautiful but pretty dated. Same goes for the rooms. However the service and Old Florida feel make those work. It's just different than staying at a sleek new place on Brickell. The restaurant is first rate, and the exercise facilities, pool and golf are as good as standalone club. Overall a great hotel, particularly if you (or a companion) have time to enjoy the facilities.

While on our tour trip around Miami, the bus stopped by the Biltmore Hotel. We thought the hotel was so amazing, we came back to take more pictures the next day. The Hotel is known for having the largest hotel pool in the U.S. We spent the day there taking pictures, ate a wonderful Italian lunch, and just walked around. The Tiramisu I had for dessert was to die for! I would recommend to visit or stay at this hotel! A lot of history and the architect is gorgeous!

It’s our desire to ensure every guest experience is both exceptional and memorable. We appreciate your kind remarks about our Fontana Restaurant, which, together with the Palme d'Or, have received top Zagat ratings in South Florida for six years running.
