“"Period hotel of Mediterranean charm" sums it up”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2012

I would definitely recommend this to anyone heading towards Coral Gables; a period property, beautiful pool / outdoor area, and (in general) a friendly resort with some character.

The hotel interior common areas are beautiful; the hotel itself seems to be a bit of a local landmark. The service (especially outside, around the pool) was excellent and the food was quite good, having eaten at a few of the restaurants on site. Generally, this is a nice, friendly, pleasant place to go and conveniently located not very far from the airport (though there was absolutely no aircraft noise).

Although I am not a golfer, other people in my party went out on the course and seemed to enjoy themselves. The hotel also offers a free shuttle to a nearby high-end mall, which was convenient.

The beautiful landmark hotel and resort is worth seeing but I would not recommend staying. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing from the front desk to the dining areas. Hotel employees were friendly enough, there were just many errors and delays in service without timely and appropriate resolution.

We are very appreciative of this feedback and regret that the service failed to meet the guest's expectations. The Biltmore prides itself on an outstanding service culture worthy of its luxury status. We have dealt with the particular personnel involved and are confident that the issues have been effectively resolved.

I stayed here on business and couldn't have been more impressed. This is truly a beautiful hotel. It is definitely a place for adults. The pool is serene and relaxing. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating.

I would try to get a room on any side but the east. The lights from the front of the hotel shine into the rooms unless you are on a higher floor. I explained this to the desk and they moved me without a problem.

You could easily relax a day away here!

Room Tip: Any side but the east

The grandoise Biltmore Hotel is in the tradition of other great old hotels that have been renovated and now made available to the Average Joe on holiday.
First impressions from the exterior of the hotel to the dark but majestic lobby were marred slightly by having to walk from the golf course car park with our suitcases (our fault as we did not want to pay for valet). Service from the one member of staff on reception was courteous and friendly.

The room (we received an upgrade to a Junior Suite) was deceptively large (especially as the corridors engender a feeling a claustrophobia)...with 2 flat screen TVs, a fantastic bed and large sofa.

Amenities were great - the gym is fantastic (and staff are great), the pool is very large (though cold first thing) and there is a decent selection of restaurants/bars on-site. The offering of all amenities can in part be attributed to its bizarre location; situated in a residential area and around two miles away from the Miracle Mile/shops (which is worth visiting briefly).

Not somewhere you would stay for more than a long weekend - unless you really like golf - but a comfortable old-world stay.

Positives:
Amenities
Friendly Staff
Possible Upgrades
Good Beds
Great Toiletries

Possible Negatives:
Noisy corridors
Location
Price of in-house dining/bar

Room Tip: Try and book a room with an upgrade deal and make sure the hotel stick to this when you check-in (ta...

This is a proper old school luxury hotel. The service level is what sets it apart as well as the grandeur of the property itself. The rooms are not huge reflecting the age of the property but this is its own criticism. Pool and service are fabulous, staff are genuinely attentive and not just to the obviously monied guests. Everyone is so helpful and friendly that it makes the difference. Spa is also very good and well worth a visit for a massage.

Room Tip: ask for a pool view

After completing our stay, I received a link to review this hotel on tripadvisor. The link may have come from the hotel. I wrote a review, explaining our frustration with the customer service we received and with the uncomfortable room our family was put in....smaller than the room we reserved and paid for. My review was never published. I also wrote an email to the hotel management. I received a reply that we would be contacted by management for a credit. After emailing back twice, I have received apologies again and again, assuring me I would be contacted by a Mr. or Mrs. Castro. No one has ever contacted me.

The issues at hand were not consistent with the Expedia reservation detail received, with which the hotel fully complied. All was resolved to the best of our ability, considering the room types available per the high volume the property was experiencing during this period.
