“A unique experience ideal for a relaxing vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2011

I normally like modern hotels over historic properties, but the Biltmore sold me with its updated rooms and authentic Florida charm. The hotel is in a residential area in Coral Gables, which is a community of historical million dollar + homes and the relaxed feel of an upscale suburban retirement community. The hotel itself has an elegance that modern hotels can't quite match. Lobby is amazing, rooms are updated and clean with great views. If you like swimming, the pool is worth the price of admission. There aren't any restaurants nearby, so you'll either need to take a taxi or I would recommend just eating at the excellent on-site restaurants. The breakfast buffets are solid, the restaurants are very good and there are numerous happy hour opportunities for the budget minded (do not miss the half-price happy hour drinks at the poolside bar in the evening - particularly the margaritas and mojitos). Another advantage of the huge pool is that there is no shortage of lounge seating or space for swimming. A great place to veg out, get some sun, swim, play golf and drink yourself into oblivion while enjoying a slice of real old Florida luxury. I also found the service to be friendly and responsive.

Room Tip: Would recommend a room overlooking the pool

An excellent way to spend an afternoon

My wife and I walked the grounds, sat at the pool bar for an afternoon cocktail and just relaxed

If you have a few hours you will not be disappointed

Room Tip: Don't rush - just take it all in

Stay at a more metropolitan location with a 5 star hotel. Coral Gables is living in the past and very run down. The Hotel is celebrating 85 years in 2011. Congrats, but I do not want to be on display while you have large tour groups experiencing your largest pool in North America or run into the group while I am trying to relax. Biltmore Hotel needs to work on their staff, especially at the front desk and reception area. I do not find it quaint to share a small elevator with the bell-hop and all my luggage and be asked to move tighter into the corner so he can fit in and he admitted that there is a working service elevator. (I am a very small person.) I received an email from the hotel to review them through Tripadvisor with the URL provided (I thought that was very convenient); however, that original review never appeared. We had a very nice room looking over the golf course, but we had numerous staff problems. The remodeling in the room does not look professionally done and the shower curtain should be replaced with glass. Do you remove after every guest the shower curtain for sterilizing? I would expect a shower curtain in a lower starred hotel because I missed a flight and the whole area is booked for a convention. Overall, the room was not cleaned well enough. The pool needs work, but maybe that is the historical charm and cannot be altered.

Room Tip: Go to another 5 star hotel, but you could book a tour here and play golf and have lunch.

The Biltmore welcomes constructive feedback from all of our guests, as an integral part of monitoring services and product throughout the resort. And we regret that this guest did not find the property to their liking. Give our stature as a National Historic Landmark, we occasionally receive tour groups, but never to the detrement of the guest experience. We will certainly address the specific group in question, however.

Stayed at the Biltmore for 3 nights before Thanksgiving. The hotel is historic and very lovely. The service is excellent all around. We enjoyed the Sunday Champagne Brunch which did not dissappoint. They have a lovely courtyard setting for the brunch, which is also used for breakfast and lunch. Self parking is available for free and a fairly close walk. The pool is one of the best assets-large and beautiful. The hotel is a short drive -about 3 miles or less from all the Coral Gable restaurants on Miracle Mile. Had an enjoyable, peaceful stay.

My fiance and I spent the night at The Biltmore and as always everyone member of the staff was fantastic. We had a great meal at Fontana. Reading some of the reviews, I guess people don't understand a "Classic Hotel." This is one of the best spots to stay in South Florida. I can't acually believe that someone would complain about a lizzard in there room. Enjoy the wonderful stay and staff at The Biltmore. We look forward to seeing everyone next year. Thanks for a memorable experience.

We're just back from 10 days at the Bultmore for a global sales meeting. The facilities, food and service were all excellent. We had nothing but positive feedback from our delegates.

We'll definitely come back for both business and pleasure, it is a special property.
