“What a great place!”

antique filled rooms, great staff, and an elevator with a manual gate/door... takes you back... so romantic!

Room Tip: ask for the corner suite

We always stay at this hotel when visiting friends in Coral Gables! It isn't like any chain hotel, in any way. The elevator is a period piece, and the decor is like a hotel in Havana, or Italy, or Spain: Dark wood, ceiling fans, crown molding, bureaus and armoires. The floors are parquet and the furnishings are antique - but the beds are very comfy and the tvs are flat screen, and the AC is quiet and highly effective. So it is the best of all worlds, really. 27 rooms and each one is a bit different from the others. The important things, like reading lights and hair dryer, are in place in all rooms that we have stayed in.

Breakfast is good strong coffee, real croissants, juice and cereals, and there are a few tables on the sidewalk in front where you can read the paper if the day is too irresistible to stay inside. There seem to be a number of bakeries around too, and a Starbucks, an excellent bookstore (Books & Books) as well as Barnes & Noble, and we noticed an arts cinema close by.

The location of St. Michel is really great. It is a few blocks from Coral Way, the Miracle Mile, and there are approximately a thousand restaurants, give or take a few, within a quarter mile. The free trolley runs up and down Ponce de Leon, at the corner. For strolling, the window shopping is fascinating, and the entire Coral Gables historic district is a treat - the Spanish and thirties-era cottages and mansions that fill block after scenic block, the Biltmore's golf course and the Venetian pool, the great banyan and strangler fig trees that threaten to consume the streets and houses. It is a jogger's paradise.

You can easily spend 3 or 4 times as much on a room in Coral Gables, if you want a pool and room service and plush carpeting. Or you can enjoy the friendly, warm, cozy environs of the St. Michel and spend the savings eating really, really well. It seems to attract a quiet clientele. The housekeeping is quite good, the neighborhood is safe, and the baths are nice.
We will keep returning to St. Michele. It represents a good value and a nice change of pace. There is something a little foreign about Miami, anyway, a little exotic, and the Place St. Michel is one of the elements that keep it that way.

Room Tip: Room sizes vary, and some are smaller than others, due to the flatiron shape of the building. You mi...

My wife and I enjoy staying in Coral Gables, away from the crowds along the beaches. This hotel is historically charming and a convenient walk from restaurants and shopping. Parking was across the street, so not too bad. Only complaint would be the bugs in our room, but that's only because the window was left open before we arrived and typical FL bugs came flying into our window. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel for his location, charm, and value.

Went to the Miami area and didn't want the bustle of South Beach. found this great classic hotel in the heart if Coral Gables. It is near Miracle Mile and there are quite a few really nice eateries within walking distance. The staff were great and helpful in finding things to occupy time.

This small hotel is in the center of Coral Gables, and easy walking distance to fine restaurants and bars. The hotel itself is a nice European style hotel with well appointed rooms. It is a bit aged, but that is part of its charm. I didn't try the restaurant... that will need to wait for next time.

St. Michel offers excellent hospitality in true European style and in an ideal location. The hotel is an easy drive from the airport and in a quiet location. I've stayed there many times and make this my home away from home in Miami. I feel very safe in the neighbourhood. The staff are all very trustworthy, eager to please and truly interested in making sure their guests enjoy Coral Gables and Miami. I live in a Caribbean tourist destination and the hospitality of the Hotel St. Michel is very welcoming. The hotel is very comfortable and unpretentious, but offers the best of old world charm and character, equivalent to the finest Guest Houses in historic Williamsburg, Boston or any top rated English pub or European guest house, but in the very cosmopolitan city of Miami. Upon ascending the staircase, you expect to see Miss Marple solving a mystery! This is a one of a kind hotel in Florida. During my last couple of visits, I've had to impose upon the management with special requests and they were very happy to accommodate me. I've travelled to Miami for many years and Hotel St. Michel is my favourite place to stay. Hotel St. Michel is excellent value for money, especially in the expensive location of Coral Gables. Coral Gables is filled with fantastic restaurants from French cuisine to Peruvian and most within walking distance of the hotel. Coral Gables Diner is not your usual diner setting, but the breakfast is wonderful and a two minute walk from the St. Michel. I have also discovered the many boutique shops in very close proximity to the hotel. If there are any amenities missing from the hotel, the surrounding area makes up for them. I truly hope you enjoy your visit to the Hotel St. Michel and that the staff welcome you time and again as part of their visiting relations!

Filled with antiques, each room is unique and charming and worth the money. We've stayed here before, and will stay here again, very good location for shopping and sightseeing. Outstanding restaurant attached (Try the prawns) and make sure you plan for breakfast here. One fashioned and yet modernized baths, and plenty of artwork to enjoy as well.

Room Tip: ASK. These people really want you to be happy
