This hotel is beautiful to look at and designed by a famous architect, but it is not functional. The staff can be heard moving furniture and crashing around beginning at 6 am for those rooms surrounding the atrium. You're no better off on the outside of the atrium, as others in our party complained about the partying at the bars across the street that went on until 3 or 4 am. Our tv didn't work, the "jacuzzi" was a joke (soft plastic lining?!), the patio terrace had dead plants and very unattractive. Location was good and bed was comfortable. My nephew was able to get a same-day massage that he said was very good. The board room was exceptional, with a wonderful breakfast for our business meeting.

Simply maginificent hotel located in the middle of Coconut Grove. Doesn't look much from the outside but one you're through the door the rooms, set off two internal atria are spacious and really nice. Felt very pampered.

“Needs a LOT of Work”

The soaking tubs on the balcony had green gunk in it and smelled funky. There were so many wires hanging from behind the TV I'm sure it's a fire hazzard. The floors are ICE cold and they don't give you slippers. The rooms smelled musty and were very dated. They've been working on their pool for the last three years! The only thing this property has is a great location.

Service and overall experience is not up to par with a hotel of this rating. 1)Called guest services four separate times during a two day stay and phone was never answered, had to call the front desk and get them to intervene; still took more than 30 minutes to get request fulfilled 2)lobby bar service is very slow and only bartender left group of guests alone in the bar for more than 15 minutes, had to get the front desk to intervene 3)the noise from the streets is really loud from midnight to 3 a.m. and I was supposedly on the "quiet" side as well as the fact that during the renovations the jack hammers start at 7 a.m. so if you're on vacation...don't expect to sleep.

“Dirty and Noisy”

Mayfair Hotel & Spa

Touted as one of the "Leading Hotels of the World" it was more than disappointing. The photos on the website don't do justice to the dirty rooms, the dead foliage view from your balcony and most disturbing, the discos across the street that stay open until 2 and 5am respectively. Althought the bedding was clean, the chairs, settee and outdoor patio furniture was stained and very old, completely uninviting. On Sunday morning, the housekeeping staff could be heard at 8am shouting "Housekeeping" from down the hall, walkie-talkie radios blaring. Obviously, the hotel wants you awake and checking out on their schedule, not yours! Finally, beware of the restaurant and bar gratuities automatically included at 18% on your bill, not itemized. We were able to get this adjusted out at check-out after a lengthly discussion. From a pet perspective, our two Coton de Tulears had their own dog bed, water and food bowls and a cookie covered in chocolate that was left on the floor that made them both sick. They tried, but are ovbiously not pet people even though they say they're the most pet friendly hotel around. There's a Starbucks around the corner and lots of shops and restaurants, so you're right in the middle of this under construction area. It was just not worth the stay for the price, I'd consider another property next time - too bad for them!
