“Nice Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2007

Clean hotel with nice rooms, a heated pool, and a nice free breakfast. Lady at the front desk was nice. Hotel is located two blocks from the beach. Would definately stay here again. One side note - if you go here, go to Slow and Low BBQ down the street.... that place is wonderful!!!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2007

We just came back from a week at the La Quinta in Cocoa Beach. It was a wonderful place to stay!
We didn't pay for four stars, so we didn't expect it..but the hotel was well worth what we paid.

The positives: A Fridge and Microwave are standard in all rooms, and we definately used both. A note to those planning to stock the fridge - the local grocery store closes at 9 on sundays - we were not used to that, as we have mainly 24 hour groceries around here. I usually have trouble sleeping in hotels, but this was great! The beds were comfy and I fell right to sleep each night. The room didn't smell at all, and the water pressure in the shower was great! The pool was a great temperature, and there were plenty of lounge chairs. Breakfast was also wonderful - I loved the waffles. I wish we had gotten up for it every day! The internet access worked well, and the staff was always helpful when we had a problem or question. It was quiet, and we did not hear spring breakers, even though we knew they were there.

We didn't sample the restaurants on site or the tiki bar, so I can't give an opinion of those, but contrary to what I had read, there is no steakhouse on site, There is a sports bar and a sushi restaurant, but no steakhouse. I was disappointed about that.

The negatives: We had requested a handicapped accessible room, and our room was definately not accessible. As we had checked in late at night, my friend decided to see if she could get around in the room without having to change rooms, and she was able to, so we didn't pursue it. But someone in a wheelchair or who needs grab bars in the shower might want to double check before making a reservation that what we had been given was not a handicapped room. At times, we did have to open the window in our room, because the shower made it stuffy - the fan did not work well. The controller to our TV was a slight issue - we could change the channel, but to turn it on and off or to change volume we had to do it on the TV - not a major problem, but an annoyance. Also, the fitness center is not on-site....it is down the road. The beach is across the street, which we knew, but nowhere did I read that the street was a 5 lane road! Most people walked it, but we ended up driving to the public access a block away, as my friend did not feel safe crossing the road. Also, they are in the process of renovating the hotel, so there is some construction going on.

Altogether, we had a wonderful stay, and will probably be back!

  • Liked — The comfort of the room
  • Disliked — The 5-lane road between us and the beach

Large sprawling 2 story older property. Well kept, but still gives that old motel feeling. Seemed to have a lot of construction/service people staying there.

We stayed here form June 24th to June 28th.

I knew this hotel was older, and took that into consideration, when I read reviews for it.

We were very happy with this hotel and would stay there again.

The Hidden Gem is that the pool/garden area is hidden in the middle of the hotel, and is not visible from the road. It was very nice with trees and grass. There was even two shuffleboard courts. The pool was great, it was "salt water clorinated" and very clean, it was quite large, and a very nice temperature. There were also tables and unbrellas around the pool area or shade, as well as bathrooms in the pool enclosure.

Breakfast was great, there was something for everyone. They has 3 waffle makers, with strawberries to put on top. They had the "egg" rounds, with sausage and cheese to make Egg McMuffins. They had yougurt, cereal, muffins, danishs, bagels, engllish muffins, bread, with lots of things to put on them. They had coffee, tea (earl grey as well as regular), they had flavoured cream for the coffee, and juice.

The rooms were very clean, and were an okay size. If you need anything though ask the front dest to arrange it, the cleaners do not speak english at all. also be very careful to make sure you don't leave anything laying out. We had my son's swim suit disapear, I am sure it got mixed up the the towels, it never showed up.

We stayed at this hotel after we returned from our cruise. We stayed two days as our intention was to spend the days at the beach and do some sight seeing.

The rooms are a good size and the breakfast was quite good. The pool was also very nice - the water was just about the perfect temperature, it was fairly big and clean.

We had issues with our toilet but the hotel manager was very accommodating - which we greatly appreciated. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here from May 3-4 before cruise. Easy to get to from MCO. The room was clean and didn't smell at all. The grounds were nice . Breakfast was free and decent, quick stuff to go and other items. The service was good, asked for more blankets and got them easily.
This is a great place to stay if you are going on a cruise from Port Canaveral and need over night lodging. There is a pool and a pool bar. Denny's next door , Texas steak house on the property, and a friendly bar. Price was decent. ok place to stay.
