“Great Value before you leave on a cruise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2010

As noted in previous reviews this motel is not ocean front. But if you are leaving on a cruise as we were it is great for a one night stay. It is very close to the port and the breakfast is very good before you leave for the cruise terminal. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable, which is all we needed. It is a motel and it is older. We stayed in the back building which was a little loud due to some younger guests and since it is a motel you can hear everything going on in the parking lot. Great value for a one night stay and just what you need if you are leaving on a cruise.

Just so you know, this is not the La Quinta by the pier (Hendry Ave.) This one is right on N. Atlantic Ave. Several reviews here are clearly for the other hotel.

My wife & I had planned for a 2 night stay. We were assigned a room on the ground floor located in the rear of the property. As soon as you opened the door a strong musty odor almost knocked you over. It got so bad that later in the evening I had to go to the local supermarket to pick up a small box of fabric softener sheets and room deodorizing spray to help offset the odor. We put the fabric softener sheets under the chair cushion, inside the pillow cases and underneath the mattress. That's when we really got surprised! Underneath the mattress was copy of a High Society & Hustler magazine from Sept 2009. This makes you wonder when was the last time someone in house cleaning ever turned or look under the mattress. The bed, which was a king, was very hard and uncomfortable. I have stayed at other LQ's but this is the first one that I would not recommend to anyone. The bottom line here is You get what you pay for and if it sounds to good to be true (the price) it probably is!

This motel is a very good choice for the money. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was a desk with free wireless internet access, a mini fridge and microwave, and comfortable chair. The room was large enough with the sink and counter open to the sleeping area with a toilet and tub in a separate but small room. The only problem with this is when one person is getting ready while the other is trying to sleep. The free breakfast had many choices including “make your own” waffles. There was a nice looking pool area in the center courtyard. It is located in a nice area with the beach a short walk across A1A and a block away. Because it was early January, and unusually cold, Hi’s barely reaching 50o, we did not go there. This looks like it was an older style motel updated and re-equipped. It’s not four star, but you’re not paying four star prices. Very pleasant and well worth the money.

Stayed here two nights before our cruise. Across the street from the public beach, just a few miles from Kennedy Space Center, Port Canaveral, other attractions. Pros: free parking, free wi-fi in rooms and lobby, free hot breakfast. Rooms comfortable, quiet and clean. Cons: older slightly shabby hotel, outdoor pool clean and large but plain and cold, staff pleasant but didn't go out of their way to be helpful but did provide excellent recommendations to local restaurants.
